Game #1(Fri) Grafton vs Lake Country Red
We came out tonight and officially started our U11 season against another a SECL State League A team. This game was an all out battle all over the field for 50 minutes straight. Lake Country scored first with 8 minutes left in the game. Grafton answered with 4 minutes left on a throw in that was kept alive by Charmaine Dee getting the ball in front of the goal and Hailey Block finished with a good old toe poke. This also was an amazing effort by keepers from both teams tonight, and splitting that position tonight from the Rangers was Corbin Woessner and Kaitlyn Wegner. 1-1 tie, final.
Game #2(Sat) Grafton vs Sheboygan County Hurricanes
Today's game we started out immediately less aggressive than Friday night's game. Sheboygan scored first( 8 min.'s) on a corner kick after 8 that we let bounce and roll across the front of the near post and bumped in by our own keeper. Then the Rangers answered 5 minutes before the half on a PK by Hailey Block and bodied in by Payton Riddle. 1-1 half. The second half we were down a starting forward and defender but managed to hold off Sheboygan until 30 seconds left and they scored. 2-1 loss, final.
Game #3(Sun) Grafton vs Pewaukee Red
The final game on this beautiful weather weekend our Rangers came out a little sluggish to start. Our defense let Pewaukee score first and early (4minutes in) with a roller across the front of the goal and in. After 10 minutes, Hailey Block scored on a shot from out on top of the goalie box on a ball cleared ahead by defender Kaitlyn Wagner.(1-1 half) Both team battled back and forth until midway thru the second half. Ava Petersen had a throw in deep in Pewaukee territory to Hailey Block, who touched the ball back. Ava Pedersen crossed the ball into center of the goalie box and Charmaine Dee finished with the ball in the back of the net. Corbin Woessner held Pewaukee in the 2nd. 2-1 win, final.
You here the names of scorers and keepers above making big plays this weekend but our defensive players who made big plays time after time this weekend are Karsen Wise, Kaitlyn Wagner, Laura Stockhausen and Jaden Autey! On offense we all play our part as a team and put in many hard fought minutes, including Madison Zwicker, Kate Sewart, Hannah Hacker, Lizzie Heil and Laura Stockhausen.
We did not make the finals this weekend, but as you can see by the scores 1-1 tie, 2-1 loss, 2-1 win against some stellar competition. Our families and coach sure got to enjoy some soccer on the edge of their seats this weekend. Thanks also to the Grafton coaches who came by to support us this weekend.
