Fall 2010 Season

October 23-24, 2010

U8 Comets
The GSC U8 Comets finished their fall season strong against the NSU White Academy Team this past weekend.  All team members worked together, showed strong defense, and were persistent while attacking the ball.  Despite the heavy rain the team stayed focused and played hard.  Aaron, Cole, and Noah each scored a goal while Harrison scored twice for the Comets. The skills keep improving every week and this weekend the Comets played the best soccer to date.  Everyone should be proud of their accomplishments this fall season and come back with renewed energy in the spring.  Great job Comets!!!

Grafton U10 Girls Academy vs United FC Red
Saturday 10/23/10
We traveled to Kenosha Saturday afternoon for our only game of the weekend. We had a slow first half offensively with several missed opportunities, but around the 20th minute Laura Stockhausen scored on a pass from Payton Riddle (1-0 us). Our defense in the first half led by Karsen Wise held Fc scoreless. The second half got under way and Hailey Block found the net twice in the first 10 minutes, assists credited to Hannah Hacker and Payton Riddle. (3-0 us). Our defense got beat late first half by United for one goal, but the game ended 3-1 Rangers. Our second half play by the entire team was much better. Jaden Autey, Ava Peterson had several noticeable big plays at "D". Our first half goalies Laura Stockhausen, Jaden Autey and second half goalies Abbie Schad, Payton Riddle each had a terrific game. Next week we finish the Fall season at Zaun against Sussex United. Come cheer us on !       Coach Steve

U12 Ranger Girls-  Saturday 10/23/10  vs. WCFC Black
The girls were back to league play this weekend, playing a strong game against WCFC Black.   Coming away with a 3-0 win the girls had an overall great game.   Sara Gramoll kept the pressure on in the offensive end and sent the ball in front of the net for Hailey Hacker to place it past the goalie for the Rangers first goal.    Maria Olson had two goals to make it a final score of 3-0.  Brianna Schnell once again had a great performance in goal for her 3rd league shutout of the season.

U12 Ranger Girls- Sunday 10/24/10 vs. Hartford United
In a battle of the undefeated teams, the U12 Ranger Girls played some of their best soccer to date.   Excellent teamwork, communication and the desire to prove themselves is exactly what the girls needed to remain undefeated in league play with a 2-1 win over a tough Hartford United team.   Makenna Race got the team going with a beautiful shot from outside the 18 yard line that hit the cross bar and landed in the net.    Hailey Hacker scored the Rangers second goal off a perfect through pass from Caitlin Kugi.    The great defensive efforts of Kennedy Izzard, Kristi Orthober and McKenna Zwicker and solid midfield play from Race, Kugi, Sierra Rome, Gillian Waskiewicz and Chloe Doring held the opponents to only one goal.   Great job girls!!!
