Fall Season, 2010

Grafton U10 Girls Rangers Academy vs United FC Red
Sat. 10/2/10

The Grafton Ranger girls took the field at Zaun with temps hovering around 50 with 20 mph winds +/-. United FC was the first to strike in the first half. Then Grafton had a break away by Jaden Autey with a cross off to the rocket foot Payton Riddle and the score was tied. United FC answered mid way thru the first half and were down again 2-1. Then Karsen Wise, with a great defensive tackle, took the ball and moved across the mid line with a perfect pass to Hailey Block at right midfield and she found the back of the net. (2-2 half).  Our first half defensive units Karsen Wise with Laura Stockhausen then Ava Peterson with Kaitlyn Wagner/Hailey Block played well together.

Second half was a battle back and forth between teams. Offensive players Abbie Schaad, Lizzie Heil, Kaitlyn Wegner made big contributions and Corbin Woessner at Goalie. United scored 3-2. Then with one last push Hailey Block beat one defender and then let a long range shot fly into the wind and it gets past the keeper 3-3. The score ended 3-3, and was a great contest between two pretty even matched teams.

Grafton U10 Girls Rangers Academy vs Mequon United
Sun. 10/3/10
We played our second home game in two day and this time against our community neighbors just to the south "Mequon". Mequon came out to play today and struck first with a goal. Then Hannah Hacker assisted Payton Riddle 1-1. Mequon's #27 broke thru our offense again for a score 2-1. Then Jaden Autey, with very aggressive play at left midfield, took the ball on a breakaway with perfect touch and shot we tied 2-2 at the half. We had multiple other opportunities through the first half we couldn't capitalize on. (2-2 half). The second half had two early let downs by the Rangers "D" until we firmed up. Then with all around team play we took control and started to play solid soccer. Hailey Block on a strike made it (4-3 Mequon).  Hannah Hacker and Corbin Woessner each came up big with an assists to Hailey Block across the middle for 2 goals (5-4 Rangers). Payton Riddle to Abbie Schaad 6-4. Then Abbie with her own tackle and offensive power move on goal and shot made it 7-4. With a worn down Mequon team great defensive play by Karsen Wise/Ava Peterson and goalie Jaden Autey we sailed to victory with a late goal added by Corbin Woessner 8-4. We started slow but played Ranger soccer the second half by all!

One last thing, perfect attendance 11 of 11 at the Grafton High School family youth night. Thanks to the parents for your support. We play the Kohls Tournament at Uihlein next weekend. Wish us good luckSoccer

U12 Ranger Girls
Saturday 10/2/10
The U12 Ranger Girls took the weekend off from league play to compete in the Lake Country United Tournament.
In the first game the girls played against LCU U11 Red ending up with a 3-3 draw.   The girls were down 3-2 with goals by Caitlin Kugi and Chloe Doring.   With less than a minute to play, a scramble in front of the net and a few Rangers with the "never give up" attitude led to a second goal by Caitlin Kugi to tie it as the whistle blew to end the game.

The second game proved to be a tough one for the girls as they lost to the eventual winners of the tournament MK Alliance 4-0.

Sunday 10/3/10
The girls played in the semifinal game against FC Milwaukee Nationals on Sunday morning and had a tough time getting into game mode.    Hailey Hacker one timed the ball into the net off a short pass from Sierra Rome to tie the game at 1.   Despite a stronger second half by the Ranger girls, FC Milwaukee scored the go ahead goal and eventual game winner (2-1).

The U12 Girls head back to league play next weekend against MK Alliance Black.

U14 Ranger Boys Blue Team
October 2, 2010
The U-14 Rangers blue team suffered their first defeat in the state league Saturday morning. The game was a back and forth game in the first half with neither Grafton or Cedarburg being able to find the back of the net. In the second half the Rangers came out and played well, but then gave up a counter attack goal and could not recover before giving up another. In the end the Rangers were defeated 3-0. The score was definitely not a reflection of the game as both teams had ample chances but the boys in Blue could not find the back of the old onion bag. H.P.D. is the answer to all questions.
