Fall Season 2010 Recap

U8 Neptunes
We had an awesome season.  The team made tremendous progress from the first practice through the last game.  We ended up being 14 strong and the team jelled very well together.  The team's favorite drills in practice were "sharks and minnows", "punt and retrieve" and, of course, scrimmaging.  From the first game to the last, each player increased their skills in both shooting and dribbling.   We are eagerly awaiting the December Tournament and Spring season. ~

Season Summary for Jets:
The Jets this year were a fantastic team. Winning the first 3 games by a couple of goals. As the coach I was very excited with our play through out these games and how the players played very nicely together as a team.  Our 4th and 5th games were very difficult due to 1 game not having many substitutions and overall some very hard teams to play against. Both of the games we ended up coming back to win by a goal or two. The players showed determination and hard work through these games and came away with some tough wins. The 6th and 7th games were depressing loses. The 7th game more so with tough weather conditions and with us making a late comeback attempt to ultimately losing by two goals. With the contributions of the all the players we ended up winning our last game to end our season at 6-2. I was very happy with the players overall performances this season and I am very anxious for spring season to begin. ~ Coach Tyler

U10 Blasters

Grafton U10 Blasters had a great fall season. I believe the team won 6 of its 8 games. The last month of the season the kids really came out of their shell and have played strong as an entire team.~Coach Mark Micoliczyk

Orbits                                                                   The GSC Orbits fall season has ended. The Orbits played competitive games, consistently improving throughout the season. The players listened and practiced hard. The fall season focused on teaching the basics through games and drills with an emphasis on getting the players accustomed to the rules of the game (kick offs, throw-ins, goal and corner kicks) and the required skills (passing and dribbling). The soccer games were fun, as the players enjoyed playing and made drastic improvements from the first game. The players also learned that soccer is played in all sorts of weather, from the constant downpour during an early season game in Cedarburg, to a game on a very warm October day, followed the next week by a cold blustery Saturday morning game.

Each practice began with a lively game of knock out. At the beginning of the season, the players used their feet to knock the ball away from others. By the end of the fall season, the players were using their ball to knock the other balls away. This allowed them to hone their passing skills. After playing knock out, the rest of the practice was filled with drills and other games, until practice ended with scrimmages.

The spring season will focus on continued development of player skills, as well as focus on their positioning on the field. We look forward to spring already, it will be here before we know it!

Grafton Rangers U10 Girls Academy vs Sussex United Girls Academy
Saturday 10/30/10
Today our Ranger ladies set out on our home turf to finish off what has been a very promising Fall season. The game got under way and we struck first about 4 minutes in with a perfectly executed combination pass from center Hailey Block out ahead to our right Payton Riddle who with a touch in stride and perfect cross that made it past their defender was finished off by Laura Stockhausen (1-0 us). The 20th minute Hailey Block took in a pass at left mid field and advanced the ball ahead with a move split the defense and shot we had number 2. Karsen Wise, Jaden Autey, Abbie Schad, Ava Peterson our first half defense along with perfect keeper play by Corbin Woessner and Kaitlyn Wagner held Sussex scoreless in the first half (2-0 us). Into the second half Corbin Woessner with aggressive play at mid field jumped a kick from their goalie and off her body into a breakaway she drilled this one home and we had a 3-0 lead. Sussex managed to get on the board mid second half (3-1 us). Then with an immediate response Payton Riddle found Abby Schad and and a nice drive and shot (4-1 us). Late in the game Hannah Hacker took a ball in the right corner toward the net and with a pass to the middle got a deflection off Sussex into the net (5-1 us). Great play by all and including Lizzie Heil at offense who played many key minutes.          Coach Steve

U14 Ranger Boys Blue Team
The Ranger U14 Blue team wrapped up the fall season on a great note. The boys went to Appleton on Saturday and played a great first half scoring 3 goals and pretty much dominating play. Scoring for the Rangers were Jan H. with a great follow up on a shot from Jake D.  Jake also finished on two other opportunities. The game ended 3-1.

Sunday the boys went to Elm Grove and played the best game of the year. The ideas, touch, communication, effort and overall soccer decisions were top notch. We created numerous chances but could not find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The weekend results put the boys in blue in 3rd place in the State League (2nd division). A quality fall season!!!

This past Thursday indoor started with a boat load of goals for the Rangers and GSC defeated Washington County soundly.
