Girls Select Level Coaches
We have a great group of coaches working with our youth. Here is some background information on those that work with our girls' select program.
Steve Block, U11 Girls
Steve is resident of Grafton. He has a love and respect for the game of soccer. He has been coaching teams in the U6 program at Cedarburg, plus many years of coaching in the Grafton Soccer Club at the Recreation, Academy and Select Program levels. He takes pride in seeing so many of the youth players he has worked with now playing in the select programs at various ages, including the high school level. Steve has helped the Grafton Soccer Club build their Select program by coaching the Grafton Academy soccer teams at the U9 girls and U10 girls level. Steve has been employed in the Village of Grafton Engineering Department, for 17 years. He is married to his wife Shannon and they have two children who are well trained soccer players. When not playing 1 v 2 against his children at home and coaching, he tries to find time to go fishing! He currently has a USSF "E" license.
Craig Carlson, U12 Girls
Craig grew up in Grafton and played four years of varsity soccer for the Black Hawks, where he was recognized as a First Team All-Conference Player in 2004 and an All-Area and All-State Player in 2004 . Craig continued playing soccer at Carroll University, where he was a starter in their men's soccer program all four years. He finished his Carroll University soccer career as a top five player for assists, goals, and points scored. He graduated from Carroll University with a BS in Business Adminnistation in 2010. Craig has an E level coaching license and is currently coaching the U11 Ranger Girls.
Don Arnold, U13 Girls
Don lives in Grafton and has a great love for the game of soccer. He has a fantastic reputation in the Wisconsin soccer community as an extremely knowledgeable coach with a genuine focus on the kids. In addition to his work with the Grafton Soccer Club as a select coach, he is also the GSC’s Director of Soccer and has been the Grafton High School Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer Coach since 1992. His high school teams have made numerous state appearances, with his girls finishing runner-up in state in 2010, winning state in 1997, and his boys finishing runner-up in 1993 and 2006. In 1998 Don was recognized as the NSCAA Midwest Coach of the Year and was a national finalist. He has been recognized as the NSCAA Coach of the Year twice, as well as recognized as the WYSA Coach of the Year in 2006. Don currently holds an E level coaching license.
Matt King, U17 Girls
Matt grew up in Grafton where he played club soccer and four years of Varsity soccer for the Black Hawks. Matt was a two time state qualifier with the Black Hawks, losing in the Finals in 2006. He also received First Team All Conference recognition in 2007, as well as being named a WI Masonic All Star. Matt currently attends the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and is pursuing a degree in Finance and Marketing. Matt has an E level coaching license and is currently coaching the U17 Ranger Girls and U15 Ranger Boys.
Drew Bikman, U18 Girls
Drew grew up in Grafton and attended Grafton High School, where he played four years on the varsity team. He attended UW-Milwaukee for Journalism & Mass Communications. While at UWM Drew helped start up the Milwaukee Panther Soccer Club, where he played and coached at the college level. After college Drew became a personal train for about 3 years and still does some personal training. Drew then followed his love for soccer to the Milwaukee Wave, where he played and trained for a bit. Drew has both D and E level coaching licenses and has been coaching boys and girls at the U15-U18 level in the Grafton Soccer Club for about 4 years. In his free time he likes to be outside, play sports, workout and run, biking, photography and sight-seeing. He believes "The road to success runs uphill."
