Week of September 17-18, 2011

U10 Ranger Girls Academy
The girls took on Brookfield Real Madrid on Saturday, 9/17.  Giving two goals up early put Brookfield ahead 2-0.  The girls fought back hard however had difficulty putting one in the net.  Brookfield scored a few more to go up 5-0 before Shelby Ortyn one timed a shot off a short pass from Halena Gehrke.  The girls played tough till the end, despite losing 5-1.

A midday game against Milwaukee Sports Club on Sunday, 9/18v had the Grafton Rangers fired up and ready to play some soccer. Down 2-0 the girls once again did not give up. Playing their best game to date, Brianna Rapp got the girls on the board. Milwaukee Sports Club came back twice to go up 4-1 however Grafton continued to not give up. Halena Gehrke, Claire Holtebeck and Shelby Ortyn held the midfield together with their hustle and aggressive play. Halena scored two goals to bring Grafton within one goal. The girls continued to take shots on goal with Natalie Cherella hitting the post several times and Brianna Rapp ringing one off the crossbar. Excellent defensive efforts from Emily Lutz, Leah McKelvey, Zoe Uihlein, and Mackenzie Schultz kept this a close game throughout despite Grafton losing 5-3. Keep up the good work girls!

U11 Ranger Girls
Grafton U11 Girls vs Brookfield Red  9/17/11
We traveled out to Brookfield for our second fall league game. Brookfield scored on us twice between 11-15 minutes into the first half on a couple of back to back defensive breakdowns. From that point on the remainder of the game was a battle. Brookfield found the back of the goal once midway through the second half. The Rangers offense just couldn't get it going today against a solid Brookfield defense. Them 3-0.

Grafton U11 Girls vs Mequon United Premier  9/18/11
With a home game against Mequon Sunday our Rangers girls were hoping to finish the weekend with a win. Mequon was first to score 15 minutes into the game. The Rangers came up empty squandering several good opportunities to score including wide open shot by Katelyn Wagner, shot off the upper post by Hailey Block. Mequon scored on a corner kick by heading the ball in 2 min. before half. Mequon 2-0. Our opponent score number 3 midway thru the second half . 3-0 them. Then finally the Ranger Hailey Block finished nicely on a ball passed back by forward Charmaine Dee. Score 3-1 them. It was not meant to be as time ran down Mequon punched one more in with 90 seconds left. 4-1 loss.

Wish us luck as the girls will travel to Madison this weekend and play the Reddan Toe Bash tournamentSoccer.
