Weekend of April 30
U10 Academy Boys
The U10 academy boys traveled to Pewaukee for a game last Saturday to battle the Pewaukee Wave. The game was scheduled to be played at Zaun and was canceled due to field conditions, but Pewaukee was able to secure field time at Wagner Park to save everyone the hassle of rescheduling.
The game started off a little slow and sloppy from the Rangers, but Josh Fonder was full of energy and his aggressive-play inspired the boys to step it up. Pewaukee was up 2-1 at half-time, but the boys came to life in the second half and Pewaukee couldn’t keep up with the smart and physical play of the Rangers. The game ended with a score of 8-3 in favor of the Rangers!
Brett Braaten was tenacious and followed up every shot and deflected ball, pressuring the Pewaukee defense into giving up 4 goals. Hayden Hacker was also a persistent force at forward and scored 2 goals. Josh Fonder and Jack Orlowski played tough and physical soccer and scored one goal each. Derek Ruona was solid in the goal and did a great job of distributing the ball to his teammates.
The boys have been practicing hard and refining their outdoor soccer skills after playing indoor soccer for 5 months. The team is playing smarter, more aggressive and physical soccer. We look forward to seeing them improve even more over the next few weeks.
