U13 Ranger Girls
The U13 girls fall season came to a close with some excitement as they look to the future. The team started the season with some unknowns and new faces. The girls worked extremely hard from day one and continued throughout the season. You may have seen them running in the darkness if you had your head lights on. Their league record ended at 5-3-2, which put them in 4th place out of 12 teams in the A division. The stat that stands out is that the girls only gave up 6 goals in all the league games and 3 came against the undefeated champions of the league. With the obvious solid defense the girls were very competitive in all league games. The girls shot 15 goals in league play. We were exposed to some high quality tournaments in Shaumburg, Mequon and let's not forget about our very own tournament. Overall the girls made great strides in their play and had a good time building their new team.
GO RANGERS!!!! (H.P.D.)

U13 Ranger Boys
The U13 boys team had the main focus of team building for the fall season.  The adjustment to the larger field and a roster comprised of 1/3 new players meant adjustment after adjustment for the boys.  The boys battled through each league game never forfeiting more than a 3 goal difference.  With each passing game, you could see the boys gain an understanding of the new, bigger game.  A new found confidence in their teammates began to grow within the boys.

The season began to turn around on September 9, when the boys played a strong Milwaukee Sport Club team.  Rallying around the “never-say-die” / “don’t-know-the-meaning-of-quit” attitude of goal keeper Noah Chopp, the boys put the first goal of the season into the back of the net.  The final outcome didn’t matter to the team, the goals by Brian Holdmann and Patrick Stilb did.  They remembered how to score.

The boys took their new found spark into the Mequon Tournament.  With 2 matches against premier level teams, the boys learned determination.  The ability to dig deep within themselves to continue to fight.  A lesson that would come in handy late in the fall at the Reddan Ice Age Classic.

The last league game of the season was against Sussex United Red, a battle for the bottom of the bracket.  The Grafton boys were on a streak of confidence, and they were hungry for the win.  Scoring goals within the first two minutes were Patrick Stilb and Brian Holdmann.  Sussex answered back, but the damaged was done and the flood gates were open.  Scoring the third goals of the match was Sam Huibregtse.  A 3 to 1 lead was taken into half time and the boys wanted more.  Jayson Voigt managed 3 shots off of posts in the second half, one of which was followed by a header from Quinton Riddle.  The final goal of the match demonstrated all of the hard work the boys put in at practice through the season.  Pressure in the opponents penalty area final resulted in a beautiful give-and-go combination between Patrick Stilb and Quinton Riddle.  The fifth goal of the match placed into the net by Patrick.

The Reddan Ice Age Classic was a late add for the boys, replacing the cancelled tournament at Uihlein in early October.  The first match against FC America from Iowa resulted in a 1-0 loss that left a bad taste in the boys mouths.  Strong performances by Jonny Holdway, Jake Pedersen, and Tyler Otto didn’t correctly reflect in the result.  The second game marked the turning point for the boys.  Outplaying Regent SC Blue, and a goal from Andy Papcke, gave the boys a chance for the wildcard spot, however they needed to win Sunday morning against McFarland.  The turning point of the McFarland came when a penalty kick was saved by Noah Chopp.  Down 1-0 late in the game Jake Pedersen made a “statement” run from his left back position.  Beating 3 men on the dribble, Jake placed a left footed shot to the far post to tie the game.  Following minutes later, a determined run by Brian Holdmann into the corner saw a cross through traffic that was finished by Jayson Voigt.  The boys made it to the semi final round, and the opportunity for a rematch against eventual tournament champion, Milwaukee Sport Club.

The boys played well and grew throughout the season.  Coach Holdmann points out that the key element to the boys season was the fact that the boys never stopped working, they never hung their heads, and their passion never wavered.

U17 Ranger Girls
The U17 Grafton Rangers girls soccer team completed their league schedule Saturday, November 5th. Missing a few team members, the girls came more prepared than ever to end the season with a win. The team knocked the ball around early, and play went back and forth. In the 13th minute, Brooke Koepsell found Halie Schieffer on a through ball, and Schieffer was able to finish her first opportunity of the game giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Germantown responded immediately evening the score on a defensive miscue. The Germantown goal gave the Rangers a wake up call, and they began to find their form. It didn't take long for Briana Weyker and Schiefer to connect on a wall pass at the top of the box allowing Weyker to serve a ball in from outside. Brianna Martin was able to beat her defender to the ball, and found the back of the net. Defensively the Rangers remained solid, and continued to swing the ball around in the back, to change the point of attack. When the Rangers were rewarded a free kick 25 yards away from goal, Abby Freeland stood over the ball, and found the back of the net to put Grafton up 3-1. Brianna Martin was able to find the back of the net one final time in the first half to give the Rangers a 4-1 lead at half.

With a solid lead, the girls looked to posses the ball in the second half, and remain solid defensively. Alyssa Schmitt held Germantown to only one goal, and the defense did not allow many opportunities for Germantown to get back into the game. Grafton had a few opportunities, but were unable to capitalize. With a 4-1 result the Grafton Rangers were guaranteed a spot in the Premier League next season.

The win also helped the Grafton Rangers win the U-17 Wisconsin Youth Soccer State League Girls First Division. The Rangers finished league play 6-0-2 and were the only undefeated team. The girls also had a +11 goal differential scoring 15 times over the span of 8 games. Defensively the team was solid! Grafton only gave up 4 goals, giving the team a .5 Goal Against per game average.

U18 Ranger Girls

Fall 2011 was a fun season for the U18 Grafton Rangers. We came into the season from a high of winning the season before. Are expectations were nothing short of a repeat. We started off the season by winning the Grafton Soccer Tournament. A great way to build on our success and gain some momentum going into State Cup and the season. State Cup always has some very competition, they did not disappoint this year. We played very good soccer and stayed competitive throughout each game, and coming away with a few victories on the score sheet and in our personal growth. We didn’t do as well as we hoped in the State Cup, but were ready to move onto the remaining tournament and league play. Our first game was a tough loss to a beatable team. We all thought this may be a long final season for team. We got into our practices and the girls seemed eager to improve. The team really pulled together. Each practice they took a few things in mind to improve on for that week. We played our next game and came out on fire! Played a well rounded match and came out with a victory. As the season progressed we had had one more lost, which was to the league champs who went undefeated. The girls always seem to balance their passion, fun, and teamwork to overcome some mishaps and tough games. They started each game better than the last. Hence the 5-2-1 record to end up in third place. I really enjoyed watching these young ladies grow and overcome hurdles to finish with such style as they tend to do. We didn’t get the repeat, but had such success that we knew we put everything we had out on the pitch everyday and had fun doing it.

U13 Ranger Girls
The U13 girls played the last game Saturday. Their opponent was the Croation Eagles. The game was a back and forth contest until the Eagles were able to put a shot past our keeper. The RANGERS never put their heads down and kept putting a lot of pressure on the Croation's defense. We were finally able to get the equalizing goal with some great dribbling skill from Megan Barrian, followed by a hard shot from Megan that the Croatian keeper was able to save but did not hold onto the ball. Alli Parsons scored a great follow up goal that sent the parents jumping up and down with excitement. It was a hard fought game and the girls can be proud of their effort. Nice job RANGERS!!!!!  (H.P.D.)

October 22-23, 2011

U13 Ranger Girls
The U13 girls had a fantastic weekend pulling out two league victories. In both games the girls were tied 0-0 at half and came out and scored early goals in the second half and went on to win 2-0 in each game.
Game 1 Saturday at SC Waukesha the RANGERS played extremely well and used quick switches of the ball to create numerous chances. 5 minutes into the second half the girls found the back of the net. Gillian Waskiewicz played a great ball over the defense that found Catlin Kugi and Caitlin controlled the pass and put a shot past the keeper. Goal 2 came from a cross from Jamie Weinhold, Jamie sent the cross to the back post where Hailey Hacker came in and finished.
Game 2 the RANGERS hosted WCFC and were able to hold off the pressure from WCFC in the first half. Less then 5 minutes into the half Caitlin found a wide open Brianna Schnell in the box and Bri hit a perfect shot into the side net. Goal 2 was all about the pressure from Megan Barrian and Jamie Weinhold as the two forwards were battling for a ball with a defender. The RANGERS came away with the ball and Megan played a square pass to Brianna that she hit one touch over the keeper. A beautiful long 20+ yard shot.
The defense was key to the victories as they were able to withstand any pressure from their opponents and if there were any shots our keepers gobbled them up. A weekend with 2 shutouts BRAVO!!  The defense is led by our sweeper McKenna Zwicker along with Gillian Waskiewicz, Kristi Orthober, Sierra Rome and our two keepers Amanda Parsons and Brianna Schnell. Working hard will lead you to success. (H.P.D. BABY)

U17 Ranger Girls
After having two weekends off of league play due to tournaments, the U17 Ranger girls were back on the field Saturday at Zaun. The girls played MK United Blue. From the opening whistle the Rangers had possession of the ball and control of the game. Looking to build off a successful weekend in Mequon, 20 minutes into the game a through ball from Brooke Koepsell found the foot of Briana Weyker, Weyker finished her chance to give the Rangers their first lead of the game. After rare miscue by the defense, MK United tied the score at 1-1. The defense redeemed themselves when Amanda Ritonia carried the ball from the back, and found Zoie Bauer making a diagonal run. Bauer took the ball to goal, and found the back of the net for her first goal of the game, and the Rangers second lead of the day.

After halftime the girls came out determined to finish United. Defensively the team appeared rock solid, and the girls continued to posses the ball. Bauer capitalized on an opportunity for her second goal of the game, giving the Rangers a 3-1 lead, which went on to be the final score.

Sunday, the team traveled to Milwaukee Sport Club. The team got off to a shaky start, but was settled down by Alyssa Schmitt in goal, and a solid defensive unit. The Rangers began to find their form 15 minutes into the first half, but it wasn't until the 37th minute that a give and go from Abby Freeland set up a 22 yard strike from Zoie Bauer to give Grafton the lead.

After regrouping at half, the team came out in great form. The girls continued to attack the goal, and had numerous opportunities denied by the Sport Club keeper. With 8 minutes remaining, and nerves high, another give and go from Freeland found the foot of Makenna Drifka at the top of the box. Keeping her composer Drifka carried the ball to the penalty spot where she hit a well struck shot that ended Sport Club's hopes of fighting back. The game ended in a 2-0 result, as the Rangers went to 3-0-2 in league play.

The team will be back in action this weekend facing Pewaukee away on Saturday, and Hartford at 1 pm Sunday at Zaun. The team has put themselves in great position to contend for a league title.

We played Appleton Explosion (Sat.) 0-0 draw. Sunday we played OSA Dynamite (Oconomowoc) and tuned in a 2-0 victory. Goals in this game were by forward Charmaine Dee in the first half with a laser finishing shot on goal. Second half Hailey Block capitalized on a pk that resulted from a OSA hand ball in the box. The entire team had a good weekend but the outstanding performance this weekend was the "Ranger Defense" who pitched 3 shut outs against high level competition. U13 Ranger Girls
The U 13 RANGER girls had a successful weekend at the Mequon tournament this past weekend. Despite not making the finals and wind that was better for sailing then soccer, the girls showed some good play and created quality scoring chances. In the first game Saturday, the opponent was Plymouth and the RANGERS had a decisive 3-0 victory which had the girls very excited. The scoring started with a nice pass from Maria Olson to Hailey Hacker on the back post that Hailey finished. Caitlin Kugi had the second goal and Hailey finished them off with the third goal. In game two we faced the eventual tournament champion, Paper Valley. Paper Valley was able to take advantage of their opportunities in the first half, going up 3-0 on the RANGERS. The girls did not give up and in the second half created some chances, but could not find the back of the net. The game ended 3-0. Sunday morning proved to be a good game for the girls. They defeated FC Magic Strikers 2-1 and controlled the majority of the game. The RANGERS jumped out to an early lead with a great pass from Brianna Schnell to Megan Barrian, who sprinted by the defenders and made no mistake tucking it past the Magic keeper. After giving up a goal right before halftime, the RANGERS pressed and pressed and came up with the game winner late in the second half. Caitlin served a perfect corner to Megan, who brought the ball down and struck a solid shot past many defenders and the goalkeeper. The final whistle blew and the RANGERS won. The excitement carried over after the game as the team sung a great rendition of happy birthday to Jamie Weinhold as they jumped up and down around her.  Hats off to our keepers and defense who secured two wins during the weekend. GO RANGERS!!!  ( H.P.D)

The U13 girls, pictured above, played in the Chicago Sockers tournament this past weekend. The girls were competing against very high level teams. Grafton U11 Girls vs Bavarian Blue
Saturday 10/8/11
We traveled to the Bavarian Club for a league game after a couple weeks of great soccer. Bavarians managed one first half goal against a Grafton team that came out with very low effort. 1-0 them at the half. Trying to get that half behind us the Rangers managed one early score on a penalty kick by Hailey Block to the far post and a finish by Madison Zwicker 1-1. The rest of the game was all Bavarians as they managed 2 more goals in the second half. Our entire Rangers team struggled in all aspects of the game today and just had one of those games. 3-1 them. Hope it was just a hiccup, as we will be playing at the Mequon Tournament this coming weekend and face some real nice competition. Go Rangers and good luck to the rest of the teams this weekend. Coach Steve

U11 Ranger Girls
U11 Girls vs FC Milwaukee Nationals Blue
Saturday 10/1/11
The schedule couldn't have worked out any better to play FC Milwaukee at their turf fields after a week of rain. Perfect soccer weather 58 degrees and sun. FC came out and played some solid soccer and took it to us early with a strike after 6 minutes. From that point on the Rangers settled into a back and fourth battle on the field. Madison Zwicker came across from the right midfielder position and finished a pass from Laura Stockhausen in the 27th minute. Tie 1-1 half. The second half was an entirely different game with our Rangers pinned back on their half for most of the second period. We put together a couple of real good scoring opportunities and strikes on goal but couldn't make it happen. Just into the 28th minute of the second half Hailey Block sent a through ball and splits the Fc defenders, with extra effort Charmaine Dee beats the goalie to the ball and finishes. 2-1 Rangers final. Our Rangers have hit a turning point starting last weekend at the Madison Tournament. We have been pulling through some tough games lately on effort and are playing some really good soccer ! Thanks to the parents for your support and hope you enjoy the great competition! COACH STEVE

U11 Ranger Girls are Champions at Uihlein Coca Cola Tournament, 9/30/11 thru 10/2/11

We started play Friday night with a win against MK TO Red 9-0. Saturday night a win against Arlington Aces White Lightning (ILL) 5-0, and Sunday a win against MK Gsc Black Rush 10-0. This 3 game sweep gave us a position in the championship game Sunday evening against the MK Nsa White. The Rangers dominated from the start and coasted to a 7-2 Victory!  Go Rangers!!

The U13 Ranger girls played 2 league games this past weekend. In their first match they played Tosa at Hart Park, which provides a nice experience on a turf field. We came up short and loss 1-0.  On Sunday the girls came back home and defeated KM United soundly by a score of 4-0. Scoring goals for the RANGERS were Maria, Lauren, Payton, and Hailey. U11 Ranger Girls @ Reddan Toe Bash, Verona (photo above)
Our U11 Girls traveled to Madison this weekend for their first team overnight tourney. We had an excellent weekend of soccer going 3-0 in our bracket. First Saturday we won against Mt. Horeb 3-1 and Racine United 2-1. Sunday morning we completed the sweep and got our 3rd victory against Rush Wisconsin Blue 2-0. That victory secured the Rangers a spot in the semi finals for the top level of U11 girls in the tourney. Our semi-final game was against OFC Dynamite (Oconomowoc).  The Rangers girls came out and played with a total team effort by everyone. We out shot our opponent 2-1 but couldn't find the back of the net against a terrific OFC keeper. The regulation period ended 0-0 and off to shoot out. OFC managed to get the edge and buried 4 in the goal to our 3. Thanks to the parents and families for all your support. These girls made me proud and this weekend was a definite success.

U10 Ranger Girls Academy

U13 Ranger Girls
The U13 girls bounce back and w0n a big game against Pewaukee. The RANGERS played a solid game and came away with a very close 1-0 victory. Hailey Hacker scored the lone goal and the defense held up to secure the victory. The RANGERS created plenty of chances with quick switching of the ball and penetrating passes behind the defense. Keeper Amanda Parsons made a huge save on a penalty kick to keep the RANGERS on top. GO RANGERS!

Week of September 17-18, 2011

U10 Ranger Girls Academy
The girls took on Brookfield Real Madrid on Saturday, 9/17.  Giving two goals up early put Brookfield ahead 2-0.  The girls fought back hard however had difficulty putting one in the net.  Brookfield scored a few more to go up 5-0 before Shelby Ortyn one timed a shot off a short pass from Halena Gehrke.  The girls played tough till the end, despite losing 5-1.

A midday game against Milwaukee Sports Club on Sunday, 9/18v had the Grafton Rangers fired up and ready to play some soccer. Down 2-0 the girls once again did not give up. Playing their best game to date, Brianna Rapp got the girls on the board. Milwaukee Sports Club came back twice to go up 4-1 however Grafton continued to not give up. Halena Gehrke, Claire Holtebeck and Shelby Ortyn held the midfield together with their hustle and aggressive play. Halena scored two goals to bring Grafton within one goal. The girls continued to take shots on goal with Natalie Cherella hitting the post several times and Brianna Rapp ringing one off the crossbar. Excellent defensive efforts from Emily Lutz, Leah McKelvey, Zoe Uihlein, and Mackenzie Schultz kept this a close game throughout despite Grafton losing 5-3. Keep up the good work girls!

U11 Ranger Girls
Grafton U11 Girls vs Brookfield Red  9/17/11
We traveled out to Brookfield for our second fall league game. Brookfield scored on us twice between 11-15 minutes into the first half on a couple of back to back defensive breakdowns. From that point on the remainder of the game was a battle. Brookfield found the back of the goal once midway through the second half. The Rangers offense just couldn't get it going today against a solid Brookfield defense. Them 3-0.

Grafton U11 Girls vs Mequon United Premier  9/18/11
With a home game against Mequon Sunday our Rangers girls were hoping to finish the weekend with a win. Mequon was first to score 15 minutes into the game. The Rangers came up empty squandering several good opportunities to score including wide open shot by Katelyn Wagner, shot off the upper post by Hailey Block. Mequon scored on a corner kick by heading the ball in 2 min. before half. Mequon 2-0. Our opponent score number 3 midway thru the second half . 3-0 them. Then finally the Ranger Hailey Block finished nicely on a ball passed back by forward Charmaine Dee. Score 3-1 them. It was not meant to be as time ran down Mequon punched one more in with 90 seconds left. 4-1 loss.

Wish us luck as the girls will travel to Madison this weekend and play the Reddan Toe Bash tournamentSoccer.

Grafton U10 Girls Academy
The U10 Academy Girls kicked off their league season with a 7-0 loss against Mequon on Saturday. The girls continue to progress as a team unit and are excited about the rest of the fall season. Keep working hard girls!!

Grafton U-11 Girls Rangers vs Waukesha U11 Gold
9/10/11 1st League Game at Zaun
Your U11 Girls Rangers started their league play and home opener today at Zaun. The first half was an all out defensive battle for the first 24 minutes led by Laura Stockhausen, Karsen Wise, Jaden Autey and Ava Pederson. Then Katelyn Wagner gathered a ball at left midfield on an offensive attack and crossed the ball to our forward Charmaine Dee with the finish. Score 1-0. 4 minutes later Hailey Block cleared a ball ahead and with the help of a mishandle by the opponents keeper top of the box, Charmaine Dee stole the loose ball and finished with number 2. Score 2-0 half. 10 minutes into the second half our center midfielder Hailey Block with a fake left and an outside of foot touch right came free and planted one in the back of the net! 3-0 us and this would end up being the final today! We had a full team effort and we all came out to play 60 solid minutes of great soccer this afternoon. I must say our first half keeper Corbin Woessner and second half keeper Laura Stockhausen had just sensational efforts today as well! WAY TO GO RANGERS Soccer   ~Coach Steve

U13 Ranger Girls
The U 13 girls started the season this past weekend with a good win against Whitefish Bay on Saturday.  The girls came out strong and aggressive and shot 5 goals to secure a win in the league opener.  Scoring for the RANGERS were Amanda Parsons with 2 goals and Maria Olson, Caitlin Kugi, Brianna Schnell each added 1.  On Sunday Racine United came to Zaun and defeated a hard working RANGER team 1-0.  The girls played a nice game and were a bit unfortunate not to come away with a goal or two.  Nice opening weekend RANGERS!!!

U17 Ranger Girls
On Saturday the U17 Rangers traveled to Elm Grove for the League opener. Playing on a firm surface, the Rangers came out quick pounding the Elm Grove defense.  The girls struggled to find the back of the net, but remained patient. It wasn't until the second half that the Rangers capitalized on an opportunity. Zoie Bauer scored the first goal of the day, after receiving a pass from Brianna Martin. 10 Minutes later, a long ball played from Halie Shieffer was trapped by Haley Orlowski, who then laid it off to Bauer, who reordered her second goal of the game. A strong defensive effort was needed by all to blank Elm Grove. The Rangers will be in action this weekend in Fond du Lac at the Wisconsin State Championships.

GRAFTON U11 GIRLS RANGERS
Hartford Kick Some Grass Tournament
8/26/11 thru 8/28/11

Game #1(Fri) Grafton vs Lake Country Red
We came out tonight and officially started our U11 season against another a SECL State League A team. This game was an all out battle all over the field for 50 minutes straight. Lake Country scored first with 8 minutes left in the game. Grafton answered with 4 minutes left on a throw in that was kept alive by Charmaine Dee getting the ball in front of the goal and Hailey Block finished with a good old toe poke. This also was an amazing effort by keepers from both teams tonight, and splitting that position tonight from the Rangers was Corbin Woessner and Kaitlyn Wegner. 1-1 tie, final.

Game #2(Sat) Grafton vs Sheboygan County Hurricanes
Today's game we started out immediately less aggressive than Friday night's game. Sheboygan scored first( 8 min.'s) on a corner kick after 8 that we let bounce and roll across the front of the near post and bumped in by our own keeper. Then the Rangers answered 5 minutes before the half on a PK by Hailey Block and bodied in by Payton Riddle. 1-1 half. The second half we were down a starting forward and defender but managed to hold off Sheboygan until 30 seconds left and they scored. 2-1 loss, final.

Game #3(Sun) Grafton vs Pewaukee Red
The final game on this beautiful weather weekend our Rangers came out a little sluggish to start. Our defense let Pewaukee score first and early (4minutes in) with a roller across the front of the goal and in. After 10 minutes, Hailey Block scored on a shot from out on top of the goalie box on a ball cleared ahead by defender Kaitlyn Wagner.(1-1 half) Both team battled back and forth until midway thru the second half. Ava Petersen had a throw in deep in Pewaukee territory to Hailey Block, who touched the ball back.  Ava Pedersen crossed the ball into center of the goalie box and Charmaine Dee finished with the ball in the back of the net. Corbin Woessner held Pewaukee in the 2nd. 2-1 win, final.

You here the names of scorers and keepers above making big plays this weekend but our defensive players who made big plays time after time this weekend are Karsen Wise, Kaitlyn Wagner, Laura Stockhausen and Jaden Autey! On offense we all play our part as a team and put in many hard fought minutes, including Madison Zwicker, Kate Sewart, Hannah Hacker, Lizzie Heil and Laura Stockhausen.

We did not make the finals this weekend, but as you can see by the scores 1-1 tie, 2-1 loss, 2-1 win against some stellar competition. Our families and coach sure got to enjoy some soccer on the edge of their seats this weekend. Thanks also to the Grafton coaches who came by to support us this weekend.

Thanks,
Coach Steve

U13 Ranger Girls
The U13 Ranger girls played this past weekend in the Hartford tournament. The weather was fantastic and the competition was also good. The girls played their first game against Oregon and were in the game until giving up 2 second half goals and were on the bad end of a 3-1 game. Game 2 matched the girls against MK Alliance, after falling behind 2-0 at half the girls rolled up their sleeves, battled back, and scored two second half goals to earn a draw. They showed Heart* Passion* Desire in the second half. Game 3 was Sunday morning at 7:30 AM against Tosa Kickers and we came up short 3-1.

Grafton Tournament, August 12-14, 2011

Grafton Tournament, August 12-14, 2011
Our U9 Academy boys team went up against great challenges at the GRAFTON TOURNAMENT and played some very good competition – against U10 Academy teams.  The team had a win in their first game against a very good team, 4 to 3.  Throughout the tournament they had some success, played very well, and never gave up playing hard like our Rangers always do.  Besides playing great soccer, they are becoming very good friends of each other.  KEEP IT UP RANGERS, we are very proud of you all!

U14 Team Places Second at FC Tournament

U14 Team Places Second at FC Tournament
Congratulation to U14 Rangers for placing 2nd in the nationally ranked F.C. Milwaukee Tournament on August 14th.  After winning against the FC Milwaukee Nationals in a semi-final match 3-2 (a come from behind with 2 goals down) and scoring 31 goals with only 5 against in 5 games, our U14 Rangers are now ranked 5th in the state.  This success has come about from hard work, the building of chemistry between players, trusting the coaches (including Maria Salm’s speed and agility program), believing in themselves and their teammates, and never giving up.

KEEP IT UP RANGERS!

U10 Ranger Boys Academy
This weekend the U10 Rangers Academy will play their final game in Waukesha bringing an end to a successful spring season.  The boys participated in two tournaments this spring.  In May the Rangers played in the Kohl’s tournament at Uihlein where the boys faced some very tough academy teams from Racine and Allouez.  The boys finished 1-1-1.  The weekend of June 4th the boys played in the Oconomowoc tournament and won each game by a comfortable margin and they let in only 3 goals.  The spring league record is 3 wins and 2 losses.  The losses came against tough teams from Brookfield and the Croatian Eagles.  The boys will have tough competition from Waukesha for their final game but they are up for the challenge!  Great work, boys!

U8 Academy Rangers
Congratulations to our U8 Academy Rangers for playing so well this season.  Our little Rangers have managed to be undefeated in 2 tournaments and 4 season games in the spring.  They have managed to score 54 goals while giving up only 7 goals during their 4 spring season games.  Their development has come from their dedication to hard work and believing that soccer is a beautiful game.  They are just loving it and wish they would play it every day.  In no specific order, our U8 Academy Rangers are; Kyler, Bryce, Evan, Bryson, Niko, Leila, Cora, and Weston.  If you see them at Zaun, congratulate them for doing such a good job.

GSC U8 Comets
The GSC U8 Comets finished the season strong.   This past weekend they played two games where everyone showed teamwork, communication, and passion for soccer.  On Saturday, with the hot and humid conditions, the team still had energy and enthusiasm to showcase their skills and hard work this past year.  On Sunday the Comets dominated the NSU Crew.  It was great to see the dribbling, passing, and shooting all come together on the last game of the season.  Each player improved during the year and impressed both parents and coaches with their performances this weekend. Great season Comets!!!!!

U13 Ranger Boys
Congratulations to our U13 Rangers for winning the MYRSL “U13A BLUE Division” this past weekend, with still one game to go.  The Rangers won the game 2-0 against the previously undefeated Lake Geneva United to reach this early Title.  Our undefeated Rangers are currently 5-0 for the season with 21GF and only 3GA.  This success can only be accomplished as a completely unselfish and hardworking players who are playing as a true team effort while having a lot of fun doing it.  The Rangers will look to close out the season in a game against Whitefish Bay on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.  We hope that you come and see us playOur U13 Rangers are also scheduled to travel to the KISS Tournament held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, next weekend June 18-19, which is considered as one of the best college soccer show cases.

U14 Ranger Boys Blue
The U14 Boys Blue Rangers were in action on the road twice this weekend with their sights set on keeping the lead in league play.  First up was MK Alliance.  The Rangers did not have one of their better games on this hot Saturday morning.  The score went back and forth, and after a controversial pass back call, the Ranger were faced with 2-3 deficit that they could not overcome.  Scoring goals for the Rangers were Jake on a header from Jan's corner kick, and by a nice solid shot from Alec.

On Sunday the boys sailed south to Pewaukee.  The host Pirates put up a solid fight early, but soon the Rangers' solid play broke them down and the goals started to flow.  The first goal came on a solid shot by Will from about 25 yards out.  The next goal was scored by Jan, which clearly took the wind out of the Pirates' sails.  Finishing up the game with three more goals were Jose, Bradd, and an own goal off a shot by Brendan.

Remember boys, you're only as good as your next game.  Play your last two games with Heart, Passion, & Desire and bring home the league Championship this weekend!

May 28-30, 2011
U12 Ranger Boys
The U12 Rangers boys team is putting the final touches on their "12 games/24 day" tour.  The boys team sits at 3 and 1 in league play, with a tough loss early (5/12) to North Shore Arsenal Blue (6-4).  The boys picked up the game and gained some momentum against KM United Gold on May 15, notching a 9 to 1 victory.  The boys then traveled to Waukesha for a week night reschedule.  After a slow start, with many distractions early on, the boys tallied 8 straight goals to win 8 to 1.  Next  up was Racine Spartans White at SCORe fields.  Undaunted by the size of their opponent (some boys appearing to be 6 foot tall), and unnerved by the rain falling from the sky, Grafton won 8 to 3.

The team is now in Minnesota, playing in the NSC Cup.  The first hurdle out of the way, Rochester (MN) was disposed of quickly in a 8 to 0 victory.  With 4 guest players helping the cause, Grafton didn't seem to miss a beat.  The boys are playing simply and quickly.  Up next DASC (Dakota Alliance Soccer Club).  Another team of 6 footers.

Game 2:  The boys were riding high off of the 8 to 0 victory in their first game of the NSC Cup in Blaine, MN.  That was until they saw the group of boys up next.  A hungry, and very tall, group of boys from the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club was up next.  Facing a physically stronger opponent than anyone the boys have seen so far this season, the Rangers started off the game tentative.  It seemed Dakota was hoping for this and fed off of it.  Dakota applied speed and pressure (not to mention the occasional love tap and full Nelson) to the Rangers, forcing bad decisions and weak passes. Dakota struck first, scoring the only goal of the first half.  Good defence from Brian Holdmann, Tyler Otto, Jake Pedersen, and Quinton Riddle staved off effort after effort.  Grafton pulled even in the second half with a clean up goal from Hustisford native, Jayson Voigt.  Sadly, the defense had to give (mostly because the Rangers were running out of bodies), and Dakota pulled ahead for good, winning the game 2 to 1.

Game 3: Up next for the shaken Rangers was Euro FC, from Rochester, MN.  With a focus on fun the boys stepped onto the field.  Except for a short nap in the second half, the boys dominated the game from start to finish.  The victory was highlited by a hat trick from Ben Hughes and another two goals from Jayson Voigt.  This victory only meant one thing; a second place seed... and a rematch against Dakota Alliance Silver.

Championship game:  The team arrived at the field at 10:45 for their 11:30 game, only to discover that the games had been weather delayed by roughly an hour.  The "roughly an hour" quickly grew, and the U12 Boys B Championship match started at 1:15pm.  Three minutes after that, Ben Hughes put the first of his goals into the back of the net.  Minute by minute the Rangers dissected their opponent.  Also scoring goals in the first half were guest player (and 8 year old) Max Stilb and Jayson Voigt.  Taking a 3-0 lead into halftime, the Rangers boys were excited.  The key to the second half was to remain "cool", keep focus, and don't get rattled.  From the second half kick off Grafton scored 3 more unanswered goals.  At this point, Dakota had lost focus and turned on itself.  The two teams shared one more goal a piece, and finished the game in favor of Grafton, 7 to 1.  Grafton had achieved the reversal, and over came Goliath.  Step by step, and piece by piece, Grafton took Dakota apart.  Congratulations boys...a well earned and tough fought victory.

This championship victory marks the first for the boys in their select careers.  Previous finishes go down as; Fall 2009 New Berlin Fall Classic-2nd Place; 2009 Pepsi Youth Cup-2nd Place; 2009 Mequon Fall Classic-2nd Place, 2010 Reddan Spring Shootout-2nd Place; 2011 A|B Select Tournament-2nd Place.

U12 Ranger Girls
Saturday May 28
The U12 Ranger Girls took the field against an undefeated United FC team that allowed only three goals all season.  The girls showed what playing quality soccer is all about, dominating the game both offensively and defensively. The offensive threat of Hailey Hacker, Megan Barian, Maria Olson and Sara Gramoll gave United FC their first loss of the season.  Gillian Waskewicz finished off a perfectly placed corner kick from Kennedy Izzard, which put the girls up 1-0.  The aggressive and never give up defensive play from midfielders Sierra Rome, Waskewicz, Caitlin Kugi, Makenna Race, and Chloe Doring along with a solid defensive line of Kristi Orthober, McKenna Zwicker, Izzard and goalie Brianna Schnell shut down United FC's offensive line.  Some simple, perfect passing by  Barian and Doring led to the Rangers second goal from Hacker.  Ranger Girls win 2-0.  A great team effort by all, keep it up girls!!!

May 21-22, 2011

U12 Ranger Girls
On Saturday, with typical Wisconsin spring weather (rain) the U12 Ranger girls took on MK Alliance, the girls got on the board first with a goal by Megan Barian off a cross the field pass from Brianna Schnell.  Despite several opportunities the girls had a tough time finishing off their passes and let up two goals, MK Alliance comes off the pitch with the win 2-1.

On Sunday the girls faced a tough Brookfield U11 team.  Kennedy Izzard took advantage of the direct kick and put the girls ahead 1-0 off a beautiful upper left corner shot.  Brookfield came back with two goals to go ahead 2-1 but the Rangers didn't quit, tying the game with a goal by Megan Barian assisted by Caitlin Kugi.  Chloe Doring put the girls ahead with just over a minute to play with a quick one time shot from just outside the 18 yard line.  Brookfield came back to tie with 20 seconds left.  Final score 3-3.

U10 Grafton Girls Academy
NSU Academy Tournament
Grafton Ranger Girls played in the U10 Girls Academy bracket at the spring NSU tournament and competed amongst a group of 6 teams, NSU, Brookfield, Milwaukee Sports Club, Waukesha SC, Sussex United, Grafton. We started off Saturday with wins against NSU(14-0) and Waukesha SC (6-2). Sunday, our 3rd game, we came up with a big "TEAM" win against Brookfield (7-1) and after 3 games led all 6 teams in total points and most importantly our half of the bracket to advance into the championship game Sunday afternoon against Sussex United. Sussex struck first and we answered back after 5 minutes(1-1), but Sussex was one step quicker and seeming a little more pumped up for this game. They managed to beat our strong Grafton defense for a 4-2 halftime lead. Both teams seemed to settle into a back and fourth battle all second half. Sussex managed 1 second half goal and our Rangers were shut down! Sussex had a 5-2 championship game victory.

I would like to tell you all this was a great weekend with excellent soccer played by our U 10 Rangers: Lizzy, Laura, Abbie, Hailey, Karsen, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Jaden, Ava, Payton, and excellent goalie play by Corbin Woessner. A little bit short this time, but a nice second place trophy. Wish all Ranger teams good luck and hopefully a great finish to the spring season!

U14 Ranger Boys Blue
This weekend saw the U14 Ranger Boys Blue team play a tough stretch of 5 games in 4 days.  They started the weekend off hosting the run-and-gun Howard Hurricanes under the lights of the GHS soccer stadium.  The game was shortened due to the thick fog, but the Rangers came away with a quality 2-0.  One goal was scored by Jose, and the other by Brendan with an assist by Jake.
Play continued over the weekend with a trip to the Tom’s Drive-in Classic in Menasha.  This was a 3 game round robin bracket where the Rangers earned 3 victories to take home the crown.  The first game was a convincing 3-0 win over Washington County FC.  Jan had one goal, while Jake put away a “kick from the mark”, and scored another with an assist from Dominic.  Game two was a hard fought 3-1 win over United FC.  The Rangers got a 3-0 lead and held off a late fight from United FC in an attempt to get back in the game.  Bradd had one goal and Brendan put in two.  The Rangers were able to diffuse the host Menasha Explosion in the third game to bring home the 1st place hardware by winning 3-0.  Goals were scored by Jack, Bradd, and Brendan.  But perhaps the most notable play was the backward-bicycle-donkey kick almost-goal by Ben. Congratulations Rangers on a solid tournament against some quality teams.

For the final game of the long marathon weekend, the Rangers returned to league play in a home game versus the Tosa Redbacks.  Despite the lack of fireworks early, the Rangers eventually broke through on a goal by Jose who reeled in his defender and then raced past him to the goal, burying the ball in the side net.  Jake had a nice goal where he took the rebound off his own corner kick, and bent it past two defenders with a left foot.  The scoring ended with a hustle goal by Alec who followed-up on a shot and rebound off the post to finesse it into the back of the net.

Keep the momentum going this weekend at the State Championships!

May 14-15, 2011

U10 Rangers Academy
The U10 Rangers Academy participated in the Kohl’s tournament at Uihlein May 14-15 and competed against some very talented academy teams in rainy and windy conditions.

Game 1 vs Racine United – The boys started off with an opening goal by Josh Fonder followed by a pair of goals from Hayden Hacker, and one each from Brandon Pegelow and Alex Huibregtse.  This game was a solid victory for the Rangers with a final score of 5-2 and an excellent way to begin the tournament.

Game 2 vs Racine Spartans – While the boys didn’t play their best soccer, they came together for a decent team performance.  With temperatures dipping and the wind and rain pelting the boys, they fought for a 5-5 tie.  Alex Huibregtse had a pair of goals, Brett Braaten and Carson Chopp had one goal each and Nathan Wegner scored a nice goal from a beautiful cross from Carson Chopp.

Game 3 vs Allouez – The final game for the Rangers was against Allouez.  This talented team was the toughest opponent to date for the Rangers.  The boys fended off Allouez as best as they could and the score was 2-3 in favor of Allouez for most of the game but the Rangers gave up two late goals for a final score of 2-5.  While goalkeeper Derek Ruona had performed well in goal all weekend, this game was without a doubt his best showing.  Allouez had some very talented shot-takers and they were a fine group of players and Derek stood up strong with the help of defenders Brandon Pegelow and Josh Fonder.  Carson Chopp had a laser of a shot to open the game and Brett Braaten earned a goal with persistence and taking on an Allouez defender one on one.  While a tough loss, the boys fought hard and played their best soccer against a strong opponent.

The boys should be proud of their performance!  They face tough competition in two away games this coming weekend against Hartford and the Croatian Eagles.  Go Rangers!
U14 Ranger Boys White
This past weekend the U-14 White team kicked off league play. The weekend began with a 2-2 draw in cold and wet conditions. The boys dominated possession most of play, but struggled to find the back of the net.

Sunday, however, was a different story.  Coming out of the gates quick the Rangers surged to a 3-0 margin at half time.  Two quick goals early in the second half allowed for players to see positions they were not use to.  The Rangers tacked on one more to finish with a 6-0 result.

Scoring 8 and surrendering 2 goals in a 2 game weekend was a great way to start off league play.

U14 Ranger Boys Blue
The U14 boys Blue team hosted Madison 56ers this past Sunday with some very windy conditions.  The Rangers played quality soccer and came away with a well earned 3-2 victory.  Scoring for the Rangers were Bradd L., Brendan L, and Jake D.  Despite the conditions the game featured some nice goals and a great assist from Brendan to Jake for the game winner.  Nice job RANGERS!

Weekend of May 7-8, 2011

Weekend of May 7-8, 2011

GSC U8 Comets
The GSC U8 Comets were excited to start their spring season this past weekend.  Everyone showed teamwork, communication, and passion for the game.  It is great to see the energy and enthusiasm to play soccer each practice and game.  We will continue to work on our passing, dribbling, and shooting.  Good job Comets!!!
U10 Rangers Academy
On Saturday, May 7th the U10 Rangers Academy played North Shore United Academy at Zaun.  The boys started off slowly but soon they set the pace of the game with some quick passes that dominated over North Shore United.

Hayden Hacker, Brett Braaten, Carson Chopp and Nathan Wagner were outsized by some big North Shore defenders, but they never backed away from the physical play and their persistence earned Hayden a hat-trick and Brett two goals with excellent team work and assists by Carson and Nathan.  Alex Huibregtse did a great job shoring up the midfield and controlling play out of the back and he scored a goal from a beautiful corner kick.  Excellent corner kicks by Alex and Jack Orlowski contributed to more scoring opportunities.  Josh Fonder and Brandon Pegelow were strong as always at defense and worked hard to provide great service to the forwards rather than just clearing the ball out of the back.  Josh did a great job getting forward in the attack and earned a goal.  Derek Ruona had another solid game in goal that may have been a little boring at times but he came up big and made some great saves when called upon.

The Rangers were victorious over North Shore United with a score of 8-1.  The boys continue to play aggressive and physical soccer and capitalize on their opponent’s defensive miscues.  The Rangers are participating in the Kohl’s tournament this coming weekend at Uihlein and we anticipate some good competition with academy teams from Racine and Allouez.  The boys are growing and learning to play smarter soccer with every game.

U10 Girls Academy vs Mequon U10 Girls Academy
Finally, after being rained out for the Madison Tourney in April and our home opener last week, we at last get to play some soccer.  We played at Zaun Field on Saturday, May 7, against our rival to the south - Mequon which is always a battle from start to finish. Mequon was the first one to strike during the 5 minute, but our offense struck back with two goals in the next 5 minutes--one by Kaitlyn Wagner, another by Laura Stockhausen.  Payton Riddle added the 3rd before the half and the score, us 3-1. Mequon came roaring back to begin the second half with back to back goals, splitting our defenders score 3-3. Then our center mid Hailey Block hit the back of the next with a laser, and Kaitlyn Wagner added her second goal of the day 5-3.  Mequon managed one last goal before the final whistle 5-4 Grafton.  Very good defensive effort against a strong Mequon team by Karsen Wise, Ava Pederson, and Jade Autey.  Great job goalies Corbin Woessner, Abbie Schad!

U10 Girls Academy vs Pewaukee Galaxy U10 Girls
We traveled to Pewaukee with terrific weather on Mother’s Day. The first half was filled with terrific and exciting play with Grafton scoring first, Kaitlyn Wagner from a nice pass by Laura Stockhausen. Hailey Block and Hannah Hacker also scored in the first half, but both scoring strikes were answered with Pewaukee goals. We led the half 3-2. The second half our Grafton girls started capitalizing on every opportunity. They all had the complete package including great passing, shooting, defense, goal keeping. We scored 4 second half goals, Kaitlyn Wagner had 2, Laura Stockhausen and Corbin Woessner each had one . Our defensive play shut out Pewaukee in the second half. Grafton 7-2.

Great way to start off the spring season! The level of play and team work is definitely noticed on the field.  Coach Steve, U10 Girls Academy

U11 Ranger Girls
The Grafton Rangers U11 girls took 1st place in the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin tournament this past weekend 5/6 - 5/8! The tournament started on Friday night with a 3-0 win against NS Arsenal.  Mindy Dickman recorded the shutout with Alyssa Jobe also playing keeper in the 2nd half. Saturday’s game saw the girls take a step back and lose two leads in a 4-2 loss to Whitefish Bay. Goals were scored by Alyssa Jobe and Sara Zimmerman. The girls came back Sunday with a 2-1 win with 4 minutes left in the game against the host team MK United. Goals were scored by Charmaine Dee and Jordan Hurley. The win coupled with Whitefish Bay losing caused the Grafton Rangers to take 1st place and win the tournament!!  Coach Craig

U12 Ranger Girls
After a canceled tournament and two canceled league games, the Grafton U12 Ranger Girls kicked off their outdoor season with a home game against Brookfield White.  Moving up to the "A" division for the spring season we knew would be a great challenge for the girls. The girls started out strong, getting on the board first with a goal by Makenna Race, assisted by a beautiful pass to the center from Caitlin Kugi.  Brookfield came back quickly to tie it, but Grafton went ahead again with a goal by Hailey Hacker, assisted by Megan Barian.
It was back and forth all game with neither team leading by more than one goal.  Grafton capitalized on a corner kick opportunity, with Maria Olsen volleying the ball in the back of the net off a perfect corner kick from Caitlin Kugi.  Grafton ahead 3-2.  Brookfield came back with two goals to make it 4-3 and ended up holding on to that lead, despite several opportunities from Grafton.  Great goaltending by Brianna Schnell kept this a close game throughout.  Despite the loss, the girls played extremely well and should be looking forward to a great season.

U12 Ranger Boys
The U12 boys FINALLY got to play some soccer this past weekend.  What better way to do that than to cram 4 games into 3 days.  Playing on the new turf field at Uihlein Soccer Park under the lights on Friday night, the boys started out with a 6 to 0 win over North Shore United Red, a team the boys will face again in league play on June 1.  Solid play from Ben Hughes and smart defensive play from Tyler Otto, Carson Klaus, Matt Orlowski, and others left little doubt who the superior team was on the field.  Grafton was even honored with a rare goal from defender Tyler Otto.  Long live the hair.

Facing an unfamiliar opponent in MK Alliance Black Grafton didn’t miss a step.  Playing with brooding confidence, and a “swagger” not before seen by many of the fans, Grafton came out on top winning 3 to 1.  Sam Huibregtse, Ryan Balsewicz and Quinton Riddle anchored a midfield that Alliance couldn’t figure out.

Bright and early Sunday morning opened at 8 am against MK Southeast Swarm.  Swagger was again the theme for the game.  Patrick Stilb and Brian Holdmann each scoring 2 goals, Patrick with what might be the team’s goal for the tournament, and Patrick and Brian combining for the teamwork goal of the tournament.  Adding to the final total of 9 to 0 were Tyler Otto and Quinton Riddle with header goals.

Game 4 of the weekend was the Championship against the Oregon Pumas, a team that had similar results through their half of the bracket.  The Ranger boys seemed nervous, a feeling that was compounded by the late arrival of referees.  Between the nervousness and the delay, the boys had lost their swagger.  Despite a strong performance from Noah Chopp in the goal (at one point flying through the air to save a shot that was certain to find its way to the upper right corner of the net), the Ranger boys lost 3 to 0.  Great job this weekend boys, an excellent start to a very busy spring season that will span the next 5 weeks.
U13 Ranger Boys
Congratulations to U13 Rangers for taking 2nd place in the MK A/B Select Tournament this past weekend.  Fantastic performance by all players throughout the games!  With excellent goal keeping, fantastic defense, great distribution from midfield, and super finishing from our forwards; our Rangers managed to shut down the opponents while scoring 8 goals in the first 3 games of the tournament against State league 1st and 2nd division teams prior to the championship game.  Our Rangers played consistently well and proved to themselves and to their fans that they can belong in the State First Division.  Although all players have stepped up their games, a couple of our player made giant leaps in their performances this weekend.  On behalf of our Rangers, I would like to THANK all parents, families, and friends of the players who have become FANS of our Rangers and cheering for the team on the side lines.  We look forward to seeing all of you and more of your family, other Rangers, and friends at the next game.  Come and see us play, you will like what you see.

Coach Farhad

U14 Ranger Boys Blue
The Ranger U-14 boys Blue team started the season off with a bang.

On Saturday they defeated Appleton Blitz 3-0 at Zaun to kick off league play in the Division 2 of the State league. Scoring goals for the Rangers were Adam H. assisted by Brendan L., Jake D. assisted by Jan H., and Joseph R. assisted by Adam H. The defense was solid, not giving many opportunities to Appleton.

Sunday was the day......STATE CUP PLAY IN GAME!!!  You win and you’re in, you lose and you go home. The Rangers did not disappoint on a beautiful Mother’s Day with a HUGE 3-1 win against a tough PVYSC team.  Adam H. started the scoring with a great through ball from Brendan L., Jack B. followed with a volley shot from Jake D. and Jake D. scored from the top of the box to finish off the scoring.  Jeffery F. and the defense did a solid job to secure the big win. This victory enables the Rangers to play for the chance to be State Champions during the Memorial Day weekend.  Wish them luck!!!! HEART* PASSION* DESIRE

Weekend of April 30

U10 Academy Boys
The U10 academy boys traveled to Pewaukee for a game last Saturday to battle the Pewaukee Wave.  The game was scheduled to be played at Zaun and was canceled due to field conditions, but Pewaukee was able to secure field time at Wagner Park to save everyone the hassle of rescheduling.

The game started off a little slow and sloppy from the Rangers, but Josh Fonder was full of energy and his aggressive-play inspired the boys to step it up.  Pewaukee was up 2-1 at half-time, but the boys came to life in the second half and Pewaukee couldn’t keep up with the smart and physical play of the Rangers.  The game ended with a score of 8-3 in favor of the Rangers!

Brett Braaten was tenacious and followed up every shot and deflected ball, pressuring the Pewaukee defense into giving up 4 goals.  Hayden Hacker was also a persistent force at forward and scored 2 goals.  Josh Fonder and Jack Orlowski played tough and physical soccer and scored one goal each.  Derek Ruona was solid in the goal and did a great job of distributing the ball to his teammates.

The boys have been practicing hard and refining their outdoor soccer skills after playing indoor soccer for 5 months.  The team is playing smarter, more aggressive and physical soccer.  We look forward to seeing them improve even more over the next few weeks.

Pride in our Players and Club

Pride in our Players and Club

Hello Club Members and Soccer Friends,
On October 16-17, GSC had 10 of our Academy and Select teams participate in the Mequon Fall Cup. This tournament features some of the top teams from Wisconsin and surrounding states. Some of the clubs that participated were the Chicago Sockers, Madison 56ers, Chicago Magic, and Mequon . The competition was fierce and your very own Rangers represented the club with some quality play.  We competed very well against the large clubs that were there. All the teams from the U-8 Academy to the U-17 Ranger girls left their mark on the tournament. We also had a Championship!  The U-17 girls (pictured above) defeated Mequon 2-1 in a fantastic showcase of soccer. We can be very proud of the U-17 champions and all of our teams as they represented the Grafton Soccer Club with class and great competitive play.

Sincerely,

Don Arnold
GSC Director of Soccer

Fall Season 2010 Recap

U8 Neptunes
We had an awesome season.  The team made tremendous progress from the first practice through the last game.  We ended up being 14 strong and the team jelled very well together.  The team's favorite drills in practice were "sharks and minnows", "punt and retrieve" and, of course, scrimmaging.  From the first game to the last, each player increased their skills in both shooting and dribbling.   We are eagerly awaiting the December Tournament and Spring season. ~
Coach Cotton

Season Summary for Jets:
The Jets this year were a fantastic team. Winning the first 3 games by a couple of goals. As the coach I was very excited with our play through out these games and how the players played very nicely together as a team.  Our 4th and 5th games were very difficult due to 1 game not having many substitutions and overall some very hard teams to play against. Both of the games we ended up coming back to win by a goal or two. The players showed determination and hard work through these games and came away with some tough wins. The 6th and 7th games were depressing loses. The 7th game more so with tough weather conditions and with us making a late comeback attempt to ultimately losing by two goals. With the contributions of the all the players we ended up winning our last game to end our season at 6-2. I was very happy with the players overall performances this season and I am very anxious for spring season to begin. ~ Coach Tyler

U10 Blasters
Grafton U10 Blasters had a great fall season. I believe the team won 6 of its 8 games. The last month of the season the kids really came out of their shell and have played strong as an entire team.~Coach Mark Micoliczyk

Orbits                                                                   The GSC Orbits fall season has ended. The Orbits played competitive games, consistently improving throughout the season. The players listened and practiced hard. The fall season focused on teaching the basics through games and drills with an emphasis on getting the players accustomed to the rules of the game (kick offs, throw-ins, goal and corner kicks) and the required skills (passing and dribbling). The soccer games were fun, as the players enjoyed playing and made drastic improvements from the first game. The players also learned that soccer is played in all sorts of weather, from the constant downpour during an early season game in Cedarburg, to a game on a very warm October day, followed the next week by a cold blustery Saturday morning game.

Each practice began with a lively game of knock out. At the beginning of the season, the players used their feet to knock the ball away from others. By the end of the fall season, the players were using their ball to knock the other balls away. This allowed them to hone their passing skills. After playing knock out, the rest of the practice was filled with drills and other games, until practice ended with scrimmages.

The spring season will focus on continued development of player skills, as well as focus on their positioning on the field. We look forward to spring already, it will be here before we know it!

 ~Coach Ruona

Grafton Rangers U10 Girls Academy vs Sussex United Girls Academy
Saturday 10/30/10
Today our Ranger ladies set out on our home turf to finish off what has been a very promising Fall season. The game got under way and we struck first about 4 minutes in with a perfectly executed combination pass from center Hailey Block out ahead to our right Payton Riddle who with a touch in stride and perfect cross that made it past their defender was finished off by Laura Stockhausen (1-0 us). The 20th minute Hailey Block took in a pass at left mid field and advanced the ball ahead with a move split the defense and shot we had number 2. Karsen Wise, Jaden Autey, Abbie Schad, Ava Peterson our first half defense along with perfect keeper play by Corbin Woessner and Kaitlyn Wagner held Sussex scoreless in the first half (2-0 us). Into the second half Corbin Woessner with aggressive play at mid field jumped a kick from their goalie and off her body into a breakaway she drilled this one home and we had a 3-0 lead. Sussex managed to get on the board mid second half (3-1 us). Then with an immediate response Payton Riddle found Abby Schad and and a nice drive and shot (4-1 us). Late in the game Hannah Hacker took a ball in the right corner toward the net and with a pass to the middle got a deflection off Sussex into the net (5-1 us). Great play by all and including Lizzie Heil at offense who played many key minutes.          Coach Steve

U14 Ranger Boys Blue Team
The Ranger U14 Blue team wrapped up the fall season on a great note. The boys went to Appleton on Saturday and played a great first half scoring 3 goals and pretty much dominating play. Scoring for the Rangers were Jan H. with a great follow up on a shot from Jake D.  Jake also finished on two other opportunities. The game ended 3-1.

Sunday the boys went to Elm Grove and played the best game of the year. The ideas, touch, communication, effort and overall soccer decisions were top notch. We created numerous chances but could not find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The weekend results put the boys in blue in 3rd place in the State League (2nd division). A quality fall season!!!

This past Thursday indoor started with a boat load of goals for the Rangers and GSC defeated Washington County soundly.

Fall 2010 Season

October 23-24, 2010

U8 Comets
The GSC U8 Comets finished their fall season strong against the NSU White Academy Team this past weekend.  All team members worked together, showed strong defense, and were persistent while attacking the ball.  Despite the heavy rain the team stayed focused and played hard.  Aaron, Cole, and Noah each scored a goal while Harrison scored twice for the Comets. The skills keep improving every week and this weekend the Comets played the best soccer to date.  Everyone should be proud of their accomplishments this fall season and come back with renewed energy in the spring.  Great job Comets!!!

Grafton U10 Girls Academy vs United FC Red
Saturday 10/23/10
We traveled to Kenosha Saturday afternoon for our only game of the weekend. We had a slow first half offensively with several missed opportunities, but around the 20th minute Laura Stockhausen scored on a pass from Payton Riddle (1-0 us). Our defense in the first half led by Karsen Wise held Fc scoreless. The second half got under way and Hailey Block found the net twice in the first 10 minutes, assists credited to Hannah Hacker and Payton Riddle. (3-0 us). Our defense got beat late first half by United for one goal, but the game ended 3-1 Rangers. Our second half play by the entire team was much better. Jaden Autey, Ava Peterson had several noticeable big plays at "D". Our first half goalies Laura Stockhausen, Jaden Autey and second half goalies Abbie Schad, Payton Riddle each had a terrific game. U12 Ranger Girls-  Saturday 10/23/10  vs. WCFC Black
The girls were back to league play this weekend, playing a strong game against WCFC Black.   Coming away with a 3-0 win the girls had an overall great game.   Sara Gramoll kept the pressure on in the offensive end and sent the ball in front of the net for Hailey Hacker to place it past the goalie for the Rangers first goal.    Maria Olson had two goals to make it a final score of 3-0.  Brianna Schnell once again had a great performance in goal for her 3rd league shutout of the season.

U12 Ranger Girls- Sunday 10/24/10 vs. Hartford United
In a battle of the undefeated teams, the U12 Ranger Girls played some of their best soccer to date.   Excellent teamwork, communication and the desire to prove themselves is exactly what the girls needed to remain undefeated in league play with a 2-1 win over a tough Hartford United team.   Makenna Race got the team going with a beautiful shot from outside the 18 yard line that hit the cross bar and landed in the net.    Hailey Hacker scored the Rangers second goal off a perfect through pass from Caitlin Kugi.    The great defensive efforts of Kennedy Izzard, Kristi Orthober and McKenna Zwicker and solid midfield play from Race, Kugi, Sierra Rome, Gillian Waskiewicz and Chloe Doring held the opponents to only one goal.   Great job girls!!!

Fall Season 2010

October 16-17, 2010
U10 Academy Boys
The U10 Academy Boys played their best soccer to date this past weekend.  On Saturday the boys faced a quick and talented Croatian Eagles in a home match at Zaun.  The game was jam-packed with fast, aggressive play from one end of the field to the other in a very close game.  Two goals by Jack Orlowski and one by Hayden Hacker and the score was a close 4-3 in favor of the Croatian Eagles.  Brett Braaten scored a goal with only one minute left in play to tie the game 4-4.  Derek Ruona was a strong force in goal with smart goalkeeping judgment.  This game was all about team effort, passing and communication, showcasing some of the best soccer played by the boys this season!  While the game ended in a tie, it felt like a victory the way the boys played against such a strong team.

The boys are playing like a different team with renewed energy and enthusiasm.  The teamwork and passion will take us into a tough weekend with away games against Brookfield and Hartford.

On Sunday we played Northshore United in Cedarburg and the boys enjoyed their first shutout of the season in a 5-0 victory.  The training and conditioning worked on in every practice paid off as we had only one sub yet the boys played hard and moved the ball well.  Goals by Hayden Hacker, Brett Braaten, Carson Chopp and Alex Huibregtse combined with excellent goalkeeping by Brandon Pegelow and aggressive pursuing and passing by forwards Nathan Wegner and Tanner Garbisch made this a rewarding team victory!

U8 Comets
The GSC U8 Comets played great games against the Astros this weekend.  On Coach Carsten’s half of the team, they tied both games 1-1.  Harrison and Noah were the counted goals while Miranda had a great attempt that was “in” and then bounced out and was not counted.  Eva and Ben were great defensive players and Ben had a great header in the second game.  Micah had great blocks and was in the right place at the right time.  On Coach Jason’s half of the team, they won both games 3-0 and 4-0.  Benjamin, Gabriel, and Cole each scored a goal in both of the games and Grace added to them in the second game.  Julia was a great defender while Aaron was the fastest on the field and always where he was supposed to be.  Great job, Comets, playing together this weekend!!!!

Grafton Ranger Girls U10 Academy vs North Shore United
Saturday 10/16/10
We played at Harris Bank Fields and pretty much opened the game on fire. We played good soccer all the way to the finish. We ended with a huge Ranger win, game 10-1.

Grafton Ranger Girls U10 Academy vs Pewaukee Galaxy
Sunday 10/17/10
Our Ranger ladies took a road trip to Pewaukee Sunday afternoon and were ready to keep the train rolling. We had an excellent first half of soccer with big offensive production on goals by Payton Riddle, Corbin Woessner (Hailey Block assist), Hailey Block, Hailey Block (Payton Riddle assist), 4-0 us. The second half we added to our total with goals by Kaitlyn Wegner, and rocket foot Payton Riddle.  6-0 us final. Those are just some of the girls who contributed offensively, but the defensive play has been incredible all season. Karsen Wise, Ava Peterson, Hailey Block, Jaden Autey, and several others help anchor our "D" weekly and are getting very comfortable receiving and advancing balls ahead and transition passing into our offense. Our development is seen by all the parents weekly and they are very excited. A couple weeks left! Let’s finish strong!         ~Coach Steve

Fall Season 2010

Grafton Rangers U10 Girls Academy
Uihlein (Kohl's Tournament)
October 8th and 9th

Gm#1
We played our opening game against Germantown which had them getting on the scoreboard early in the first half, 1-0. Then 10 min. in Corbin Woessner jumped a goal kick and gave it a ride into the back of the net. (1-1) Our offense heated up and with a nice pass from Corbin to Lizzy Heil 2-1. Then a perfect pass by Payton Riddle across the middle and a great finish by Abbie Schaad, 3-1 at the half. We added two goals in the second half, a "PK" by Payton Riddle, and goal by Laura Stockhausen, but the story was the pressure defense today led by Karsen Wise, Ava Peterson, and Laura Stockhausen after the first and only Germantown score. 5-1 us.

Gm#2
Our second contest of the day on Saturday ended up being against a pretty tough Shorewood team. As usual or opponents split our defenders for the first score of the game, 1-0 them. Middle of the first half our offense finally found the net on a goal by Hailey Block assisted by Abbie Schaad 1-1. The last 10 min. of the first half we seemed to be on our heels but the "D" held and Jaden Autey came up with several huge saves at the keeper position. Just before half Hailey Block scored off a corner kick untouched across the front of the goal and in. 2-1 us. Mid second half Payton Riddle deflected a goal kick with her body to the middle and Corbin Woessner was there to put it in, 3-1. Shortly after on a handball in the box by the Rangers, Shorewood tied us up with a pk 3-2. Our Rangers fought it out till the end and held on 3-2. This game was a total "team" effort, well done.

Gm#3
Our final game Sunday was against the Mukwonago Strikers. We had two offensive strikes in the first half that produced Ranger scores. First was on a pass from Corbin Woessner to Hailey Block and the second was on a breakaway by Katelyn Wagner with a solid finish. Our defense players were solid all half (Karsen, Laura, Ava and Jaden), 2-0 us. The second half was all Rangers offense with 3 scores, Payton Riddle, Hannah Hacker(her first of the season!) and Abbie Schaad, 5-0 us. Great team soccer all weekend, keep it up!

U12 GSC Storm

The Grafton U12 Storm continued it's winning streak, beating Port Washington United 5 to 0!  The defense was once again dominant, with goalies Brady Zwick and Michaela Brunnquell teaming up with defenders Payton Schneider and Amber Micoliczyk for another shut-out.  So far this year, the Strom has only allowed 2 goals in their five games.

On the offensive side, Ryan Melotik led the way with 3 goals and one assist from his mid-fielder postion.  Andy Papke once again scored and Taylor Hafemeister chipped in a goal also.

For the season, the Storm is undefeated, winning  5 games by  combined scores of 26 to 2!

U13 Ranger Boys
The U13 Ranger boys participated in the Nike Classic Tournament hosted by the Chicago Sockers. The boys started with the Palatine Celtics and had plenty of excitement. They came away with a well deserved draw. In the evening game under the lights they faced off against the host team and the game ended 1-0 in favor of the Soccers, however the Rangers played some fabulous soccer and gained much respect from all who watched them leave everything on the field. In the 3rd game the boys came out flying and scored 27 seconds in the game with a rocket from Luke with a brilliant pass from Alex. The second goal was a long shot from Christopher that found the side netting. The Rangers final goal came from some great effort from Eric, he worked his way around the left and placed a perfect cross to Jackson who made no mistake hammering the shot past the keeper. Coach Farhad would be proud of your effort during the tournament. ~Coach Arnold

U14 Ranger Boys Blue

The Rangers U14 blue team spent the weekend playing in the Nike Classic Tournament in Illinois. Unfortunately the boys could not get on track offensively and ended the tournament with 3 losses. The Rangers can use the experience from the weekend to become better players and a better team. The boys in blue will be lacing the boots back up this weekend, as they will play some great competition at the Mequon tournament.

Fall Season, 2010

Grafton U10 Girls Rangers Academy vs United FC Red
Sat. 10/2/10

The Grafton Ranger girls took the field at Zaun with temps hovering around 50 with 20 mph winds +/-. United FC was the first to strike in the first half. Then Grafton had a break away by Jaden Autey with a cross off to the rocket foot Payton Riddle and the score was tied. United FC answered mid way thru the first half and were down again 2-1. Then Karsen Wise, with a great defensive tackle, took the ball and moved across the mid line with a perfect pass to Hailey Block at right midfield and she found the back of the net. (2-2 half).  Our first half defensive units Karsen Wise with Laura Stockhausen then Ava Peterson with Kaitlyn Wagner/Hailey Block played well together.

Second half was a battle back and forth between teams. Offensive players Abbie Schaad, Lizzie Heil, Kaitlyn Wegner made big contributions and Corbin Woessner at Goalie. United scored 3-2. Then with one last push Hailey Block beat one defender and then let a long range shot fly into the wind and it gets past the keeper 3-3. The score ended 3-3, and was a great contest between two pretty even matched teams.

Grafton U10 Girls Rangers Academy vs Mequon United
Sun. 10/3/10
We played our second home game in two day and this time against our community neighbors just to the south "Mequon". Mequon came out to play today and struck first with a goal. Then Hannah Hacker assisted Payton Riddle 1-1. Mequon's #27 broke thru our offense again for a score 2-1. Then Jaden Autey, with very aggressive play at left midfield, took the ball on a breakaway with perfect touch and shot we tied 2-2 at the half. We had multiple other opportunities through the first half we couldn't capitalize on. (2-2 half). The second half had two early let downs by the Rangers "D" until we firmed up. Then with all around team play we took control and started to play solid soccer. Hailey Block on a strike made it (4-3 Mequon).  Hannah Hacker and Corbin Woessner each came up big with an assists to Hailey Block across the middle for 2 goals (5-4 Rangers). Payton Riddle to Abbie Schaad 6-4. Then Abbie with her own tackle and offensive power move on goal and shot made it 7-4. With a worn down Mequon team great defensive play by Karsen Wise/Ava Peterson and goalie Jaden Autey we sailed to victory with a late goal added by Corbin Woessner 8-4. We started slow but played Ranger soccer the second half by all!

One last thing, perfect attendance 11 of 11 at the Grafton High School family youth night. Thanks to the parents for your support. We play the Kohls Tournament at Uihlein next weekend. Wish us good luckSoccer

U12 Ranger Girls
Saturday 10/2/10
The U12 Ranger Girls took the weekend off from league play to compete in the Lake Country United Tournament.
In the first game the girls played against LCU U11 Red ending up with a 3-3 draw.   The girls were down 3-2 with goals by Caitlin Kugi and Chloe Doring.   With less than a minute to play, a scramble in front of the net and a few Rangers with the "never give up" attitude led to a second goal by Caitlin Kugi to tie it as the whistle blew to end the game.

The second game proved to be a tough one for the girls as they lost to the eventual winners of the tournament MK Alliance 4-0.

Sunday 10/3/10
The girls played in the semifinal game against FC Milwaukee Nationals on Sunday morning and had a tough time getting into game mode.    Hailey Hacker one timed the ball into the net off a short pass from Sierra Rome to tie the game at 1.   Despite a stronger second half by the Ranger girls, FC Milwaukee scored the go ahead goal and eventual game winner (2-1).

The U12 Girls head back to league play next weekend against MK Alliance Black.

U14 Ranger Boys Blue Team
October 2, 2010
The U-14 Rangers blue team suffered their first defeat in the state league Saturday morning. The game was a back and forth game in the first half with neither Grafton or Cedarburg being able to find the back of the net. In the second half the Rangers came out and played well, but then gave up a counter attack goal and could not recover before giving up another. In the end the Rangers were defeated 3-0. The score was definitely not a reflection of the game as both teams had ample chances but the boys in Blue could not find the back of the old onion bag. H.P.D. is the answer to all questions.

Fall 2010 Season

Sunday 9/26/10
On Sunday the U12 Ranger Girls traveled to Dousman to take on KM United.  Despite keeping the ball in the offensive zone for 85% of the game the girls played to a 1-1 tie.   Megan Barian had the lone unassisted goal for the Rangers.    The defensive efforts of McKenna Zwicker, Kennedy Izzard, Kristi Orthober and Sierra Rome provided the Rangers the opportunity to keep the pressure on.  The girls travel this weekend for tournament play at the Lake Country United tournament.  Good luck girls....GO RANGERS!

9/25/10
U8 GSC Comets
The GSC Comets soared through their games against the NSU Crew, winning 3 of the 4 games.  On Coach Carsten’s half of the team, Noah scored 2 goals and Eva scored 1.  Coach was most impressed by the strong running and attacking of the ball by Cole, Aaron, and Alexis.  On Coach Jason’s side Harrison scored 3 goals and Ben scored 1.  Grace was focused and persistent while Miranda emerged as a great defensive expert and Micah covered his opponent with ease on throw-ins.  The entire Comets team played a great game!!!

North Shore United Tournament (9/25/10, 9/26/10)
U10 Girls Grafton Rangers Academy Team

Game 1 Grafton Rangers vs Brookfield Team 1
Our first tournament game this weekend and our second soccer contest against a different Brookfield team in one week. We started this game pretty strong and could not find the net with a couple missed offensive opportunities throughout the first half. Brookfield was very aggressive offensively but our defense led by Hailey Block, Karsen Wise, Ava Peterson and excellent goalie play by Abby Schaad held them to one goal in the first half. (1-0 them). The second half was all Brookfield who added 3 second half goals and finished with a 4-0 win.

Game 2 Grafton Rangers vs Elm Grove Blue
On game two of the Cedarburg tourney we had competition against Elm Grove. We played fairly well until 13 min. into the game Jaden had a breakaway with one person on her side and SCORED!!!!! 1-0 after Jaden scored. About 5 min. later boom Payton scored 2-0. After the kick off Karsen knocks one in 3-0. Then Hailey gets one in the back of the net 4-0. Nice goalie by Lizzie and D by Karsen, Ava ,Kate and @bby and nice passes by Hannah and Laura. Second half Corbin kicks it at the goalie. Iit bounces off of her gloves and rolled in!!!!!!!That's the game!
(Game 2 perspective by Payton Riddle U-10 Girls.)

Game 3 Grafton Rangers vs North Shore United
This was the game we needed to come together and play Ranger soccer to keep us alive in the tournament and give us a birth to the 1st place - 2nd place championship game and another shot at Brookfield 1. The first half produced 3 Ranger scores on nice shots by Payton Riddle and then 2 by Hailey Block. We pulled away starting the second half with a goal by Karsen Wise. Payton Riddle and Corbin Woessner each added 2 second half goals of there own. The entire team rotated play at defense which would deny North Shore the entire game along with excellent goalie play by Jaden Autey and Laura Stockhausen. (8-0 us)

"Championship Game"
Game 4 Grafton Rangers vs Brookfield Team 1
We took the field against a very solid Brookfield team which took it to us right away with the first strike. Hailey Block came back with rocket shot herself and tied it up 1-1. Brookfield's offensive attack would then prove to be to much for us to handle and scored the next 4 first half goals before Laura Stockhausen steals a goal kick and takes it right into the goal before the half. (5-2 them) The second half was a battle both offensively and defensively for both teams up and down the field. Brookfield ended up winning 1st by a score of 7-2. We walked away with second place medals. (Even though this game ended 7-2, it was a good one to watch. It seemed as if this game was within reach the entire contest. Our girls never quit, and played at a high level all of us were proud of today.) "CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 2ND PLACE FINISH"  COACH STEVE

U14 Ranger Boys Blue Team
Saturday, 9/25/10
The first place Rangers continued league play against a tough competitor on Saturday when they traveled to DePere. From the outset, it was obvious that the game would be a battle from start to finish.  Midway through the first half, Adam Huibregtse opened the scoring when he lofted a 25 yard shot that cleared the keeper’s hands, but stayed just under the cross bar to catch that back of the net.  DePere countered with a similar shot shortly before halftime.  The second half was a battle of field position which was dominated by the Rangers.  Despite some great opportunities, the second half remained a scoreless tie thanks to a stingy defense which has given up only one goal in its first three games.  Final score was a 1-1 draw.  Way to play tough Rangers!

Sunday, 9/26/10
The U14 Rangers Blue team continued their season on Sunday at Zaun Soccer Park playing host to the Madison 56ers.  It was a perfect fall day for Soccer.  Today was another battle equal to yesterday’s match.  Despite dominating the game with possession of about 75% of the game, the Rangers were not able to get the ball over the line and into the goal.  The best opportunity came in the first half when Jake Demerath took a shot off of a deflection. His shot rattled the cross bar and went over the top.  It was another clean sheet game (shutout) by the defense.  The final result was a 0-0 draw despite a strong showing by the Rangers.  Next up is Cedarburg for a game next weekend at Zaun.  Go Rangers!

Grafton Girls U-10 Rangers Academy vs. WCFC Academy Red
Sunday, 9/19/10

After a terrific comeback tie against Brookfield Saturday with two second half goals. We took the field Sunday for our home opener at Zaun against Washington County FC. We had a spectacular first half with two opening goals by Laura Stockhausen. Payton Riddle assisted by Hailey Block for #3. Kaitlyn Wegner and Ava Pedersen added 4 and 5. Then with an offensive finish by Hannah Hacker on a nice pass from Ava Peterson, we were up 6-0. Payton Riddle, Hailey Block added 7 and 8. Finally to end the first half on a finish off goal by Lizzy Heil, she put the body on a corner kick from Hailey Block that from my point sealed the game 9-1 half. Our defense was pushed up to the half line the entire game which kept us playing offense all day. The second half Laura Stockhausen struck first, then a Abbie Schaad pass to Kaitlyn Wagner. Payton Riddle scored her third, and our defensive back bone Karsen Wise got some offensive action to finish the game with the last goal. 13-1. Next weekend we will participate at the North Shore United Tournament, come cheer us on!
U12 Ranger Girls
With not playing a game in a month the U12 Ranger girls came out showing that they were ready to get the season going with their first two league games this weekend.  The girls played FC Milwaukee on Saturday coming home with a 7-1 victory.  Megan Barian led the offensive charge with three goals, while Kennedy Izzard had a goal and two assists.  Midfielders Caitlin Kugi, Gillian Waskiewicz, Makenna Race and Chloe Doring did a great job keeping the team on the attack majority of the game.

On Sunday the girls showed the home crowd what they are all about by beating Wauwatosa 6-2.  With another stellar goaltending performance by Brianna Schnell, a great defensive effort, and an overall cooperative team approach the girls were able to build a comfortable lead.  Sara Gramoll had her first goal of the season while Makenna Race, Megan Barian (2), Hailey Hacker and Brianna Schnell all put the ball in the back of the net.

Great effort by all, as I always say, "girls, make yourselves proud out there" and you did just that!

Fall 2010 Season

U10 Ranger Boys Academy Team
The U10 boys academy team enjoyed a successful tournament in Tosa the weekend of September 10 - 12.  Friday night brought a tough loss against a very talented academy team from Washington County FC.  Saturday was a day off for the Rangers and they finished the tournament on Sunday with two wins.  The game Sunday morning was a back and forth battle against a team from Tosa and the boys were victorious in a close game that finished 7 - 6.  The Sunday afternoon game was a goal-fest for the Rangers that ended with a score of 12 - 2 against a team from Tosa.

Each and every player on the U10 boys’ academy team scored a goal on Sunday.  To share the goal-scoring amongst all 11 players on the roster is a great accomplishment!!  That is truly a team effort!!

Payton Riddle and Hailey Block each found the back of the net twice and Kaitlyn Wagner finished the half with a bullet shot of her own. A first half lead 5-1 Grafton. After playing goalie the first half and starting the second at center midfield, Lizzie Heil came to life and scored a pair of goals, then one late goal added by Payton Riddle. Other notable offensive effort by Hannah Hacker all weekend long. Final score 8-1 Rangers.

"Congratulations Girls" on a tournament sweep (3-0) and most of all a great start to the 2010 Fall season.   Coach Steve

U12 Storm
In spite of the rain the Storm had a nice win @ PWS on SaturdayFinal score 5 -0.  A great way to start the season.

U12 Ranger Boys
After a month of practicing, and a couple of scrimmages, the U12 Boys Rangers finally got to take the field for a few real matches at the Milwaukee Sport Club Tournament this past weekend.  With a less than favorable schedule that had the team playing on Friday night, against the host team no less, the boys started off on the right foot with a shaky first win of the year, 3 to 2 against Sport Club.  The boys played familiar foe Whitefish Bay Blue in their second game.  In what Coach Holdmann had been calling a “statement” game, the boys played their best game of the tournament, winning 4 to 0.  A strong effort by all helped secure maximum points in this game.  Jayson Voigt scored what proved to be the game winning goal off of his head, from a corner kick taken by Brian Holdmann.  Entering Sunday with two wins, and two games to be played, the boys were in the driver’s seat, and ready for what was to be the bigger tests of the weekend.  A 3 to 2 loss to eventual Champion Pewaukee, and a an exhausting loss to Bavarian White concluded the weekend.  “Iron Man” defenders Carson Klaus and Quinton Riddle were well recognized, and appreciated by the team.  Now on to their first league game on Saturday the 18th against Kettle Moraine United Gold.

U14 Ranger Boys Blue
The Ranger U14 Blue team started the state league season off with a pair of 1-0 victory's at Zaun this weekend. In the first match Noah Semmann scored a fabulous goal on a great individual effort to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead against MK Alliance. The stingy defense did not allow MK to test the goal until late in the game and keeper Jeffrey Frankard came up with a big sliding tackle to end any threat.

In the Sunday game the Rangers came up with a goal that surprised everyone. Joseph Reyes took a shot and it found the back of the net with a good home field bounce. The midfield and defense once again shut down all runs by Yahara. It was a fantastic weekend for the U-14 Rangers Blue team due to great effort by all. GO RANGERS! (H.P.D. Baby)

Spring 2010 Season

U11 Girls Season Wrap Up

The U11 Girls Rangers team finished their spring season this past Saturday with a 5 to 2 win against FC Milwaukee Menomonee Falls.  In a true case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the girls role of Mr. Hyde showed up for this match.  Playing in what looked to be some of their finest form of the season, the girls had no trouble dispatching their opponent.

The girls ended the season 7-0-1 in league, taking first place in the SECL C East division of state league.  The results from the two tournaments the girls played in this spring were a record of 2-1-0 at Reddan (losing to Pewaukee United, the eventual champion, 3 to 2), and 3-1-0 at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin A|B Select (losing to Mequon United White, who took second place, 2 to 0).  This means the girls overall record for the spring is an OUTSTANDING 12-2-1.

Congratulations girls.  Fantastic job this spring!

The Rangers U13 boys blue team ended their season this past Memorial Day weekend in Shaumburg, Illinois. They competed in the Grove United Tournament at the Olympic Fields. A beautiful turf complex, beautiful weather (most of the weekend) and quality play by the Rangers made for an exciting weekend. The boys did very well in the group stage and advanced to the final due to the team only giving up one goal in the 3 games. The Rangers defeated all 3 teams during group play scoring 11 goals and only giving up 1. In the championship game the boys came up on the wrong side of a 1-0 game and placed second. It was great to see how the boys started to become a team and it showed in their level of play. We are all proud to be RANGERS!

Their battle cry.... H.P.D BABY!!!!!

Coach Arnold

U9 Girls Kohl's Tournament at Uihlein Soccer Park, 5/7/10-5/8/10

Game #1 Grafton U-9 Girls Rangers played against the Germantown Eagles U-9 Girls and had two first half goals. One by Laura Stockhausen and Hailey Block added another. Goalie Lizzy Heil with Karsen Wise, Corbin Woessner and Kaitlyn Wegner at defense held our opponent scoreless. The second half was a battle up and down the field, goalie Aleia Olsen stopped a couple shots on goal and our ladies came away with a 2-0 win.

Game #2 Grafton U-9 Girls Rangers played against the New Berlin Leopards Girls. The game was back and forth until Laura Stockhausen sent a laser pass up the middle to Aspen Goad and with the finish we led at half 1-0. The second half we were in the zone and with bullet shots by Payton Riddle, Karsen Wise (2), Laura Stockhausen and Hailey Block, we finished 6-0. The defense was anchored by Ava Pederson.

Game #3 Grafton U-9 Girls Rangers played against the New Berlin Jaguars Girls. The first half was all Jaguars 2-0 with a couple break downs defensively. We pulled it together in the second defensively but our offense only managed one late goal by Hailey Block. 2-1 Jag's.
Coach Steve

On May 8, the Grafton Rangers U13 blue team took on Germantown in their second game of league play. Grafton dominated from the beginning to the end, not allowing Germantown to penetrate through the defense while maintaining constant pressure on the goal.  The defense was key to the attack. They may not get the press or make many of the top ten plays on ESPN, but were deserving of game balls. Our defense, Ben Lorge, Dominick Rome, Will Skalecki, Jamison Soya, Noah Semmann and our keeper Jeffrey Frankard all were solid in the victory.  Scoring goals for the Rangers were Jose Reyes, Adam Huibregtse, Jake Demerath and Bradd Lemke. The Rangers have found that a little (H.P.D. baby) goes along way.  Coach Arnold

The U11 Girls Rangers team played in the Froedtert & the Medical College of WI A/B Select Tournament over the weekend of April 30 to May 2. The girls had an easy time in bracket play, scoring 10 goals, and only allowing 2 against.  Caitlin Kugi, Hailey Hacker, Haleigh Bares, and Chloe Doring were among the consistent goal scorers for the squad.  The “Iron Curtain” defense was made up of the combination of Kayla Kulczyski, Kennedy Izzard, Morgan Wallace, and Abbi Gutknecht.  The girls ran into arch-rival Mequon White in the semi-finals, and ran out of steam against the eventual Runner-Up in the U11 Girls B bracket. Congrats girls on a well played tournament.

Grafton Rangers U12 Boys took first place in the Froedtert & The Medical College of WI A/B Select Tournament held at Uihlein Park on April 30th, May 1st and May 2nd.

RANGERS U 13 Blue team- The Rangers were in action this past weekend at the Uihlein A/B Select tournament and found their way to the award stand, finishing 2nd.

During group play the boys found themselves on the bad end of a 1-0 loss vs. Cedarburg in game 1. The boys played well, hitting the cross bar early in the game and having one cleared off the line.   In game 2 the opponent was Germantown and the RANGERS picked up their level and won 4-0. Alex Diets scored a great goal from the top of the box after receiving a long diagonal pass from Adam Huibregtse. Adam added a beautiful volley off a perfect corner from Connor Kugi. Alec Weinhold's determination proved to be to much for Germantown as he broke through the defense and slid to knock it by the keeper. The last goal was scored by Daniel King on a breakaway, Daniel showed composure as he calmly slid the shot by the keeper.  Game 3 proved to be a thriller, as Sheboygan and the boys went toe to toe in a exciting 1-1 tie. Nick DeFlorentiis was able to get a toe poke to beat the keeper on a cross from Daniel King.   The RANGERS have elevated their play the past couple of weeks as they are beginning to believe in a little (H. P .D. baby)   ~Coach Arnold

Grafton U-9 Girls Academy vs Mequon U-9 Girls Academy  5/2/10

On Sunday our U-9 girls took on our arch rivals to the south (Mequon) at Rotary Park. The first half was a defensive battle on both ends of the field, but Mequon managed two late half goals leaving us down 2-0 at the half. The second half was again a battle back and forth until 10 minutes in, when Ava Peterson threaded the needle with a pass between two defenders up field to Hailey Block and with a nice finish we were down 2-1. Mequon had several offensive opportunities as well in the second half but our defense led by Laura Stockhausen and Corbin Woessner and goalie Karsen Wise denied any scoring attempt.  With time running out and fine offensive play we couldn't get the ball past Mequon's keeper. End 2-1. Great effort!   Coach Steve

U-9 GIRLS ACADEMY VS. BROOKFIELD GIRLS ACADEMY A
SAT. 4-24-10 / WEATHER:44 & RAIN / LOCATION: BROOKFIELD

I WILL NOT GET INTO THE PLAY BY PLAY OF OUR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON WHICH WE PLAYED TO A 3-3 TIE AGAINST BROOKFIELD. INSTEAD I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU PART OF A POST GAME SUMMARY SENT OUT TO TEAM FAMILIES AFTER. AS COACH, THIS GAME IS PROOF THAT THE TIME YOU PUT IN WILL PAY OFF, AS THE GIRLS TOOK IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL AS A TEAM.

Just wanted to send an e-mail out to all families and let you know how proud I am of the girls play today as a team. Hopefully you noticed the improvement from the fall season.

There was not just 1 or 2 players stepping up. We had big goalie play from Aleia and Laura in tough rainy conditions, and 3 goals from 3 different players. From a coach's stand point, many other basic fundamentals are starting to develop and were observed today that resulted in terrific play by all. They included spacing (maintaining position), strong accurate kicks (passes/shots), clearing the ball ahead by defenders, and the girls' ability to get the ball to right-left midfield or into open field. Lastly, everyone was very aggressive defensively, challenging and attacking the ball today for the entire game. What a great game!

Thanks,
Coach Steve

The Grafton Ranger U13 A boys played a State Cup play in game Saturday April 24th. The game itself was a hard fought battle, with the Rangers coming back twice from being a goal down.  Unfortunately the boys came up a bit short losing in OT 3-2. The Rangers played with a lot of Heart*Passion*Desire and left everything out on the field. Joseph Reyes and Jake Demerath scored for the Rangers and Noah Semmann had an assist.

The U-13 Grafton Rangers White played on the new turf field in Wauwatosa on Saturday, April 24 for our first league game. We struggled getting used to the new field in the beginning, but came out strong in the second half.  The boys won the first game of the season with a score of 3-1! Coach Kevin

U10 Jets Even though the Jets lost 9-0, the goal keeping and team effort were great.~Coach Mark Micoliczyk

U12 Hurricanes The Hurricanes were short key players and only had 1 sub.  The team had great ball control, energy, and played hard all game in a nail biting  2-1 victory.  Exciting game! ~Coach Mark Micoliczyk

This weekend the U13 Grafton Rangers White team battled a good team from Racine. We lost 1-3. Our starting goalie was not there for the second straight game, which didn't help. We scored first, however, and had a lot of great chances. The game could have gone either way and just did not go in our favor. ~Coach Kevin
